3 Health Issues You Simply Can’t Ignore Anymore

We all want to live as healthily as possible. After all, a healthy life is a happy life. However, there are certain health problems that can creep up on us no matter how hard we try and stay healthy. Sometimes, we get little niggles here and there that we ignore. Then, in a couple of days, they go away, and we can rest a little easier. There are even persistent problems like aches and pains that we just tend to ignore and get along with.

Having said that, there are definitely a few health issues you simply can’t afford to ignore. Today, I’ll show you a few signs and symptoms to look out for. If you have anything listed here, then it’s a very good idea to see a doctor and get a checkup to be safe. In most cases, it could be nothing, and you might get some medication that helps you. But, in the odd case that it’s serious, you’ll be thanking the heavens that you got it seen to early on!

Persistent Bloating & Constipation

Bloating and constipation are common things to feel on a regular basis. Most of the time, you can cure them by simply changing your diet or altering your eating habits. But, if you have both things quite bad, all the time, for weeks on end, then it could be a sign of something quite serious, like stomach cancer. See a doctor as soon as can be to get tested and have peace of mind.

Coughing Up Blood

No one likes to think of this as it can be horrible. The moment you notice any blood in your tissue or hand after you cough, book an appointment with your GP. This could be a sign of bad infections or issues with your lungs. Don’t take the risk, get seen to as soon as you can!

Severe Abdominal Pain

There are times where we might get a little bit of a stomach ache or have some pain in our abdomen. If this happens gradually and goes away quite quickly, then it’s nothing to worry about. However, if you get sudden and severe pain, then you should phone a medical professional. This may be a sign of something bad, most notably appendicitis.

The Importance Of Never Ignoring Health Issues

Generally speaking, you should always see someone if you have any health symptoms. It’s important because you could detect bad issues way before they become problematic. Seriously, many things can be fixed and sorted out with ease when detected early on. Leave things for just a few months, and you could be looking at palliative care and a very bad illness. Naturally, no one wants to go through this, and no one wants to put their family through it either! So, do the smart thing and see a doctor if you have any of the issues mentioned above.

I know a lot of people don’t like seeing doctors because they’re scared or worried, but you’ll feel a lot better after going. Even if you overreacted and it was nothing, you’ll have peace of mind!

At the end of the day, if you ignore these issues, you’ll eventually be forced to see a doctor or medical professional anyway! So, by going early, you save a lot of time, pain, and problems. Take care of yourself, don’t try and deal with health issues like the ones mentioned, always get them checked out to remain fit and healthy!

Five Hacks To Totally Rock Mom Life This Week

Let’s face it, it isn’t easy being a mom is it? It isn’t something people admit freely I can assure you, but life can be hard at times especially when you have a young family. That doesn’t mean you don’t love your life or love being a mom, it just means that you are being real and honest. That is refreshing. However, many moms will admit that sometimes a bit of preparation can set them up for a great week where everyone is happy, content and you, most importantly feel like you are rocking the mom life. I thought I would share with you five hacks you can do this week to help you totally rock it.

Schedule in play dates and activities

Be organised this week and schedule in the play dates and the activities. Text your friends and organise meeting up or them coming to see you. Children love to be social and you will relish in there adult conversation. Equally a quick look online at activities for toddlers will help you plan in some of the things you can do and organise for your children on certain days. Whether that is crafting, games or outside activities at least you know you are stimulating your little ones and keeping them content.

Go outside

Getting outside can really defuse a lot of situations, especially if you find that you are in the stages of toddler drama and tantrums. The fresh air can be the perfect tonic to calm down heightened emotions, not just with your children but for you as well. Go out for walks or visit a new park in a different town. Just being outside will make you feel better.

Have a list

Lists are great to help you keep on top of all of the other things a mom has to handle on a daily and weekly basis. Write everything down and feel accomplished as you tick things off your list. This helps you to stay in control and on top of things, but it can also be a real mood lifter as you start not see exactly how much you do.

Get an early night

Sleep ca solve a lot of things and if you are finding that you are getting on your last nerve sooner than normal then tiredness could be the reason for it. I appreciate that we can’t always get full nights sleep with kids, but try and actively head to bed a little earlier to ensure you get as much as you can.

Keep a positive mindset

Finally, a positive mindset may sound ominous, but actually it can help you to feel more positive and also help you in terms of your actions and mood. Shy away from negative feeling and thoughts and proactively be positive, even if it feels a little forced. You are less likely to get upset by things and will see a difference in your attitude to yourself and towards your family.

I hope these tips help you totally rock mom life this week.

Embracing A More Natural Home Decor In Your Family Home

Why would you want your family to have to live together and bond in a home that is totally artificial and uninspiring? Embracing natural decor in your family home can not only make it more beautiful, it can transform your home into a healthier space that you all love spending more time in, whether that’s alone or together.

Here are a few pieces of useful info you can use for embracing a more natural decor in your family home. Enjoy!

Don’t Hold Back When It Comes To Plants and Flowers

Plants and flowers are a must for a healthy, natural decor for your family to enjoy. Include flowers in the kitchen, lounge, and even the bedrooms. Have plants everywhere you can fit them – seriously! Not only do they purify the air and make us happier when we look at them (according to science), they add natural color to a home, as well as leafy texture. You can include multiple plants in one room and it can look fantastic. Just make sure these plants are easy to maintain!

If you’d rather not have to think about watering plants, you can buy convincing looking fake plants. Just bear in mind that you don’t get as many benefits with fake plants.

Use Natural, Earthy Tones

Using natural, earthy tones in your home decor can help to ground your home, make it feel more relaxing, and allow you to use furniture, artwork, and other design elements without clashing. However, this doesn’t mean you have to stick to colors like boring brown and beige. Look into different shades of blue and green, and don’t forget to include a pop of bright color here and there, like yellow.

Use Botanical Fabrics

Take a look at botanical fabrics and figure out how you can include this in your home decor. A textile that features something like birds, branches, or flowers can be a great addition to make for spring. You could create your own upholstered chair with it if you know how to sew, but if you don’t, you could try creating a seat cushion instead – a great project for beginners. Failing that, don’t be afraid to make a table cloth, where you won’t need to sew anything at all.

Make Your Own Pretty Flower Portraits

Pressed flowers look beautiful, and they are really easy to do on your own. Whether you’re going for a morning walk or simply looking in your own garden, you could find some great flowers to make unique artwork. First you’ll need to press them using a flower press or a stack of heavy books, and then leave them until they have fully dried out.

When the flowers are ready, you can use a fabric like linen to back the flowers and fit it into a frame. Spray adhesive is a good option to stick your flowers to the linen, but sometimes the glass is enough to hold them in place alone.

Use Sea Glass To Create A Beautiful Feature

Sea glass, or beach glass, is absolutely beautiful. If you like collecting it, or you’d like a reason to start collecting it, you can create a great feature with it in your home. You could simply fill a nice vase with it, but how about using it to cover a window in your home? This would look absolutely amazing in a bathroom, whether themed around the beach or not! You can use a clear setting resin to fill in the gaps between pieces, and this window will still let in light, it’ll just block views. Make sure you’re not blocking out a fantastic view – this is why the bathroom makes the window an asset.

Let In More Light

Natural light makes us happier and more productive, yet so many homes are filled with artificial light. Make sure you aim to let in more natural light to your family home. Your family will feel more productive, less stressed, and happier. Plus, your home will look larger and just a whole lot better. Get bigger windows if you have that kind of budget. If not, simply keep them clean and choose the right window dressings so that you can let as much natural light in as you like.

Find A Way To Use Beautiful Materials

There are so many beautiful materials you can use in your natural home decor, from wooden floors to marble countertops from a place like World Stone. Make sure these materials are totally natural – you might need to take your time with this, as they can be more expensive than man made materials.

Connect The Inside Of Your Home With Your Garden

Connecting the inside of your home with your garden can create a better living space. You can do this in an open plan living room by designing it so that it’s adjacent to your outdoor space. By making sure your internal colors and outdoor decking match, you can create a seamless transition. Positioning all of your furniture to take in the beautiful views is a good idea too, and you’ll easily be able to supervise children as they play outside.

Collect Feathers in a Cup

You don’t have to spend a lot of time or money to make your family home more natural and beautiful. The simple things can sometimes make all the difference! How about collecting feathers you find on walks and putting them in an earthy looking mug on a shelf to incorporate things from the wild?

Fill Up Bottles And Jars

As well as feathers, you can fill bottles and jars with your finds for a little affordable DIY. You could fill a glass jar with sea glass, as mentioned before – with or without water looks great. You could also place some smooth pebbles and stones in a glass jar, and then place a tea light on top for an affordable candle holder with natural appeal.

Start embracing a more natural home decor in your family home today – you’ll love the difference it makes!

Why You Need To Clear Your Gutter Before Spring

Image

Now that the warmer weather is approaching we need to start looking at the odd jobs we can do around both the house and the garden. The gutters are an integral part of our home system because they work to stop water from reaching our foundations and getting into the brickwork of our homes. Gutters are designed to direct water away from the house and then flush it into the garden.

However, a lot of us neglect our gutters and this can lead to debris building up in the area. If we do not clean out gutters every so often we can end up with sticks, leaves and other material blocking the way and this in turn can cause the water to build up and leak into the house. The last thing you want is to neglect this easy Plumbing job and end up causing major damage to your home. Therefore it is important to start thinking about cleaning out those gutters and keeping the home healthy and happy.

How often?

The question of how often you should be emptying out your gutters will depend on the are you live in. If you live in an area with plenty of trees, then it is likely that the leaves and debris will fall into your gutter and build up over time. It is recommended that the gutters are cleaned in the early spring and in the autumn.

Another reason to clean your gutters during the spring is that many pests lay their eggs in moist gutters and during the late spring and summer these pests will come to life. It is often mosquitos who will take advantage of this, but honey bees may do the same so make sure you can clear out a nest before it spawns.

If your gutter is directly underneath a tree, then you will likely need to clean out the gutters more often to prevent the leaves and sticks building up and blocking your way, you can even look into trimming the tree so that it does not directly overhang your gutter.

DIY or professional?

Most of the time there is no need to call in a professional, and you can easily get the job done yourself. To safely clean out your gutters you will need a sturdy ladder, pipe cleaner and gloves. When using a ladder always make sure that it is on solid, flat ground to keep it safe and prevent it from moving. If it lands on soft soil then you can place down some wood to even out the land and provide an even spot to rest on. Ideally you should always have someone with you to make sure that the ladder stays solid and safe on the ground. This will hopefully prevent any major injury occurring.

If you do decide to have a professional look at the roof for you, they will be able to clean the gutter out and also perform any small repairs which are needed on the gutter to keep it strong and flowing where it should.

Invest In Your Home And You’ll Save Money In The Future

Spend now, save later. Flickr

Sometimes, the best way to save money is to spend a little. That might sound like the most counter-productive thing ever, but it makes sense, trust me. You see, in this blog post, I’m going to talk about a few investments you can make that will help your family save loads of money in the future. As the title suggests, these investments all focus on your home. Without further ado, here are my ideas:

Invest In A Small Extension

If possible, you should try extending your home just a little bit. Add one extra room to your property, and it will save untold amounts of money in the future. Eventually, your home will feel overcrowded and cramped. Kids grow up, they need more space, and you accumulate more things. This is why many people end up moving home to a bigger place. But, think about it, this makes no sense as your children get to a point where they move out. So, you’ll have a big empty house if you upgrade. With a small extension, you provide extra space, this could be another bedroom to stop your kids from sharing, or it might just become a storage area. Either way, you save loads of money by not needing to move home or spending lots of money renting out a storage locker for all your belongings.

Invest In A New Roof

How many of you have replaced your roof since you moved into your home? I know people that lived in the same house for decades and didn’t replace theirs. This is normally because roofing is designed to stand the test of time, but certain roofing materials can become outdated. If you head to www.wildwoodroof.com, you’ll see there’s a new type of roofing called architectural shingles. They’ve become very popular, mainly because they benefit you in a plethora of ways. For one, they’re more durable than normal shingles, meaning they won’t break as easily. Secondly, they add value to your home. Thirdly, they’re thicker, which means they’re better at insulating your home. Therefore, you can save money in different areas. Mainly, your energy bill will be lower as the new roof traps in more heat, meaning you can turn the thermostat down. But, because a new roof is more durable, it means there’s less chance it will crack, meaning you save on future repairs too!

Invest In Solar

It would be stupid of me to talk about things that save money without mentioning solar power. Yes, if your family invests in some solar panels now, you’ll pretty much reduce your energy bill until the end of time. The panels provide clean energy that doesn’t cost a penny. So, a small investment now will save you a lot in the future.

Do any of these ideas interest you? It’s kind of ironic how spending money can lead to saving money, but that’s just the way life works! You should always think about the future, instead of just focusing on saving money now.

Common Pup Problems

Image

If you have a dog, you will know that they are prone to getting many different illnesses and disease just like us. It’s important to know that different breeds tend to carry different problems, that’s why you should always do your research before getting a dog. Read about breeds, and if you already have an idea of what you want, make sure you learn as much as you can, because this will all come in handy when you have your companion.

Springer Spaniels, for example, tend to have problems with their joints overtime, while Basset Hounds can have problems with their ears. So know all you can about the pup that you’re getting so you know the risk of things to come in advance, preparing you for possible vet bills and treatments.

Ear infections

An ear infection is very common that your dog can have more than once in its life. They can be brought on by certain allergies to foods or the environment, as well as being a hereditary thing within a breed from the likes of a buildup of moisture and wax because of how the ear canal is shaped. You should be able to notice pretty quickly if your dog has an infection because the area will be red and swollen with discharge from the ear. Your dog may also be scratching a lot around that area, and even whining a little as they do. Most of the time it can be treated with ear drops that your vet prescribes you. So just make an appointment as soon as you can.

Arthritis

Dogs are prone to getting arthritis just like we are, and it tends to come with old age. This can be a rather frustrating thing to deal with because you may be seeing your dog in quite a bit of pain if it goes untreated. They won’t be able to do things as they once did with ease, like jumping in and out of the car, or even walking as far as they once could. Fortunately, there are quite a few options that you have to ease any discomfort your dog is experiencing, as well as helping the issue itself. Giving your dog glucosamine is a brilliant supplement that aids the growth and repair of the cartilage and synovial fluid that is used to protect all the important joints.

Intestinal worms

Worms are a horrible problem because they not only affect your poor pup, leaving them with a lot of discomfort, but you and your family are at risk of having them too. They start out in young pups, and if they go untreated, your dog may begin to suffer from vomiting, diarrhoea, and overall loss of appetite, and in some rare cases even death. This is why you need to constantly be on the lookout for any changes to your dog’s behaviour. Keep an eye on their eating habits and bowel movements. Also see if they’re still as playful as they were, or if they have seemed to get more lethargic and sleep a lot more than they used to. If you notice anything, you need to take them to your vets as soon as possible.

Why Downsizing May Not Be A Bad Idea

Most of us are focused on the idea that bigger is better when it comes to houses. However, there can sometimes be financial and practical advantages to going against the grain and moving to a smaller home. Here are just a few ways in which downsizing could the solution to your problems.

It can be a great way of escaping debts

Smaller properties cost less to live in. Not only could you be reducing your rent/mortgage rates, you could be paying less in energy bills as you’ll have less space to heat up and light up. This can be a great way of getting yourself out of debt. It could even allow you to live mortgage-free in some cases. Even if you’re financially coping and you just want more disposable income each week, downsizing could allow you this.

It can be a good retirement plan

Downsizing can be an effective retirement strategy. By selling your home for a smaller and cheaper one, you could make a large amount of money – money which could be used to help fund your retirement. It could be money put towards weekly spending or you could spend all at once on travelling the world.

It could be a way of saving up money to upsize

You could downsize as a temporary way of saving up for a bigger property. With less bills to pay, you might be able to put more money aside for a down payment on a bigger place. Any possessions that can’t fit into this smaller home could be put into storage in the meantime – by searching for fantastic storage units near me you should be able to find something nearby. Storage prices vary but are usually fairly cheap.

It could be practical if you no longer need the space

Those with growing families are unlikely to want to downsize. However, if the kids are starting to move out or you’re no longer with your partner, you may no longer need all the space in your home and somewhere smaller could feel cosier and more suited. Another possible reason for needing less space could be if one of your family has developed mobility issues – moving from a two-storey property to a smaller bungalow could be easier for getting around.

Your home will require less upkeep

Smaller homes are also easier to keep clean and tidy. There won’t be as much floor to vacuum or as many skirting boards to dust or even as much lawn to mow. If you don’t have much free time to maintain the house and you find that it’s become a real chore, moving to a smaller place could free up this burden. Moving to a smaller home could even give you a motive to declutter your home if you feel you’ve got too much stuff. A smaller home could force to part with some of these possessions, as you physically won’t have the room for them.

Every Parents Nightmare: Keeping Kids Protected From Danger

credit

As a parent, our number one priority is keeping our children safe, happy and healthy. Unfortunately we don’t live in a perfect world, and there’s lots to bear in mind when it comes to their protection. We might not be able to wrap them up in cotton wool, but there’s plenty we can do to avoid all kinds of risks and potential harm. Before having kids, most of this stuff might not have ever crossed your mind- but now it’s something to consider carefully. Here are a few of the ways we can keep our kids safe.

Safety in the Car

In many ways our roads are very safe, however it’s one place where lots of accidents still do happen each day and so road safety is something to bear in mind. The first thing to consider is the car itself, newer models are generally equipped with more safety features and put you in the best position if you do have an accident. If you’ve been considering a new family car for a while then this is a good reason to make the upgrade. Not only would something a little bigger and with five doors be more practical, but you could choose a model that’s well known for its safety features. Child seats and booster seats are another important element of car safety, your child should be in a seat that’s correct for their height and weight, and then use a booster seat until they’re around ten or eleven years old. It goes without saying that the way you drive plays a huge role too. Plan journeys in advance so you avoid busy areas where people might take more risks. Ideally travel at quieter times of day and the clearest routes where possible.

Safety at Home

Home might feel like the safest place in the world, however it’s where most accidents occur and a surprising number of dangers can lurk. Make sure things like knives, razor blades, medication and cleaning chemicals are way out of reach of children, or locked away. A carbon monoxide sensor and a smoke alarm are essentials in any home and can keep your family safe. Something for parents to bear in mind with children is window safety, unfortunately a number of children fall from windows to their death each year. They should be locked with a key, particularly in children’s bedrooms. Aim to keep your home a safe, happy and healthy sanctuary.

Safety in Public

One of the biggest fears of parents is having their child wander off, or be taken by a stranger. While cases of child abduction are rare, it’s still something you simply don’t want to risk. If your child is still in a pushchair, they should be securely strapped in. Make sure they can’t unbuckle themselves and dart off when you’re occupied looking at something in a shop or speaking to a friend. If they’re still small but prefer to walk, make sure you’re securely holding your child’s hand and they’re not let out of your sight even for a few moments. They could be taken or wander off, they could even end up walking out into a road.

Could Property Offer You The Business Opportunities You Seek?

If you’ve decided to join the many other moms who have taken a leap of faith and chosen to quit their nine till five jobs and launched a business of their own, then you are most probably wondering what field to go into.

When it comes to choosing a business type to launch, there’s a lot that needs to be taken into account, which is why it’s so important to choose the industry that you go into carefully. You want to choose an industry that not only has fantastic potential for success, but that is also linked to one of your interests. Because, as various studies have shown, when it comes to succeeding in business, being passionate about the business that you run is crucial to your success.

A popular industry to go into is property. This is because the opportunities that come with this sector are vast and varied, making it a great option for people with all manner of interests and hobbies. Whether you have an eye for design, are crazy about interiors, or love building communities, property investment could be a great option to go into.

Does the idea of working in property appeal to you? If the answer is yes, then you may want to take note of the business ideas below that relate to property in one way or another, and have fantastic potential for success.

Offer a property staging service

Do you have an eye for design? When you walk into a property, do you imagine how you would change the space to make more of it? If the answer to both of these questions is yes, then perhaps you should consider offering a property staging service. Wondering what property staging is? Property staging is a service that can help to make properties more sellable by making them more appealing to potential buyers.

When a property isn’t selling as quickly as the owners hoped it would, or a fast sale is required, often a staging service is used to create a space that is more appealing. If you’ve got an eye for design and neutral style, this could be a fantastic business concept for you – launching a property staging service. This is a business that would not only be simple to start, but also that would have high success rates, especially if you tap into the luxury market and build up a strong customer base within the local community. They say that word of mouth marketing is the best form of marketing, and in these kinds of industries, this is the case, which is why building a strong local customer base is so vital.

Invest in property to do up and sell on

Property flipping has been highly publicized by various high-profile TV programs over the past few years, which has made it an even more popular property-related business choice. If you are someone with a passion for DIY, then property flipping – where you purchase an old, distressed home on the cheap, do it up and sell it on for a profit – could be the perfect business opportunity for you. While flipping property doesn’t offer the long-term income that buy-to-let properties do, what it does offer is a good profit that can be split in two: one half as profit and the other half to be put into buying another property to do the same thing with. Over time, this process will allow you to make a good income from doing up and flipping properties, building on your profits each time.

Of course, the downside to this kind of business is the fact that you need a large sum of money to start off with. As if you are going to be able to invest in a property (even cheap property) to do up and flip, you need a large budget to start out with. After all, there’s not just the cost of the property to think about, but also the cost of the materials and labor for doing the property up. Of course, if you don’t have adequate funds available, you can always opt to take out a bank loan or bring a financial investor on board.

Do real estate photography

Do you have an eye for photography? If you’ve always been passionate about photography, then perhaps working in real estate photography could be a good move to make. Most real estate companies charge incredibly high prices for real estate photography, whereas you can offer a more affordable but just as high-quality service. Do this, and you are sure to get plenty of clients, after all everyone loves a bargain, don’t they?

Of course, in order to be able to start this kind of business, you will need to invest in a high-quality camera that will easily capture clear, high-resolution images. You will also need to invest in a photography course that specializes in real estate photography so that you are able to hone your skills and ensure that the quality of the photos you capture is high.

In addition to investing in a high-quality camera, it’s also vital that you consider other crucial pieces of technology, such as a drone, for instance. Today, many real estate companies use drones to capture images of properties from all angles, which is why it’s vital that if you want to see your business succeed, you invest in the same tools that are usually used.

Build property for rental potential

Another business option for anyone with a passion for property could be to build property to rent out. While you could opt to buy property to rent out, which can be just as effective, if you have an eye for design and have a unique concept that has high potential for success, such as building an apartment block that comes with a range of unique features, then doing something different and choosing to build your property rather than buying one, could be the answer.

Of course, if you are going to choose to build property, rather than buying it, it’s important to think things through carefully. This means taking the time to consider everything that would come with building property rather than buying it, such as finding the ideal plot of land, needing to apply for adequate planning permission, and taking out a survey of the area. Then there’s the cost of working with a professional architect, to take into account – you can find details here about your options for this. The fact is that while choosing to build property rather than buying it comes with various opportunities; it’s important to realize that there is a lot more work that comes with it as well. The process is more timely and most costly, plus it will take longer for you to see results. Of course, if you can afford the time and money, then this is a great option, particularly if you have an idea that will allow you to create homes that are truly unique, as everyone knows that it’s the USP that makes a business a success.

Launch your own real estate company

Do you have a passion for sales? Then perhaps you should consider launching your own real estate company? Have you always wanted to view house after house, showing people around and helping them to choose whether to make a purchase? If you have, then perhaps starting a real estate company could be a great business option for you. The fact is that when it comes to property, real estate is a great area to get into, especially if you are a people person and have a knack for sales.

If you can’t afford to purchase a premises, don’t panic – you can always opt to run your business virtually. Today, more and more companies are becoming virtual because by doing so they can cut costs and reduce their spending. In addition to this, they can offer their services for a lower price, which can help to ensure that when it comes to their success, their chances are much higher. By running your real estate company virtually, you can ensure that you have the highest chance of success possible, as you can keep your fees wonderfully low, due to having minimal overhead costs. The more affordable your services are, the higher your chances of success are, which is why keeping your overhead costs low is so important.

There you have it, a guide to all of the best ways that you could consider working in the property sector as a business owner. The fact is that when it comes to property, it isn’t easy to find the right area for your business, as there are just so many different options to choose from. However, if you take note of the tips and advice above, you can ensure that when it comes to launching a property-focused business, you can pick the one that’s the best fit for you, and that comes with the opportunities that you need it to.

4 Things You Never Want to Hear Your Child Say

(image)

We spend our lives as parents teaching our children to communicate, but there are those times when our kids say something that stops us dead in our tracks. Whether it’s with embarrassment, shock, or downright panic that you feel, these are the some of the words you never want to hear coming from your child’s mouth. Bless ‘em!

  1. “I Hate You”

You spend your life caring for your little one, so those three little words are going to hurt. Why do they hate you? It’s probably because you are forcing them to eat their vegetables, refusing to let them play out after dark, or you have grounded them for something naughty they have done during the day. It’s unlikely they actually hate you, of course, so you need to remember not to take it personally. Don’t give in to the words either. Kids know what words push your buttons, so despite wanting to restore your calm family life, stand firm unless you have given them a genuine reason to say those terrible words. In which case, apologise!

  1. “My head is itchy”

These four words spell dread for any parents. After a day at school, coming home with an itchy head can only mean one thing…head lice! At least, that’s what your mind will be thinking. If that is the case, you are going to need head lice treatment, be that a visit to a specialist clinic or a natural product that will get rid of the blasted things! Still, despite your repulsion, you need to remember that head lice gravitate to clean hair, and they don’t jump or fly, so it’s unlikely they will spread to you or your family unless you constantly rub heads together! Of course, the problem may not be head lice at all, in which case you can breathe a blessed sigh of relief… unless it’s one of these other problems. Yikes!

  1. “I hate school”

Most children hate school. They hate having to get up in the morning. They hate homework. And quite often, they can hate their teachers too! Hate is a strong word, of course, but this is a word you will hear a lot from your child. Still, there may be genuine reasons why your child doesn’t like school. Bullying is a major issue for many kids, and then there is peer pressure, work that is too demanding for them, and the dread of SAT tests and exams. You owe it to your child to find out why school is such a hateful place for them to be, and if there is a serious issue, you need to help them get over the problem as soon as possible.

  1. “I want it”

If only you were made of money! Every time you take your child out shopping, you can guarantee they will see something they want. They won’t settle for substitutes either, so while you try to convince them the cheaper option is best, they will usually want the more expensive item. Whether it’s pure greed or the need to keep up with their peers, your children will bleed your pockets dry with their demands. They want it and they want it now! So what do you do about it? Don’t give in! Unless the item they want is absolutely necessary, and you aren’t just being a Scrooge, say ‘no’ until they get the point. If you do give in, your pockets will run dry and you may end up with spoiled children on your hands.

Finally

Do any of the above relate to you? Have your children ever said those fearful words? Let us know, and if you can add any other phrases you don’t want to hear your kids say, please share them with us. Shudder!
