Family Time Ideas For Those Long Summer Evenings

(image)

Before the summer is over, and before your children go back to school, why not make the most of these long summer evenings before autumn sets in and everything changes again?

After all, your kids aren’t at school until September, and you might have downtime away from work, so now is a good time to find more ways to bond and have outdoor fun with your kids, before life returns to its usual routine.

Here are just a few of our ideas.P

Play Board Games Outside

When did you last play a board game with your kids? Many of us don’t take the opportunity, mainly because of the lure of the many screens that have taken over our lives. Therefore, why not get out onto your decking or set up a table on your garden, and bring out your old favorites such as Monopoly and Clue, or purchase one of the latest board games to entertain your family. Top your evening off with snacks and lemonade, and this might be something that you return to after getting back into the habit of playing together.

Go for a Nature Walk

Do you live near an area of scenic beauty? If so, take the opportunity to go for an evening walk with your children, and point out anything of interest, from flowers to wildlife, to encourage awareness of the natural world around them. Take a ball or a frisbee too, and play together if you find an open space. And rather than returning home for your evening meal or supper, you might want to take a picnic with you, as you will then have more time to spend outdoors surrounded by beauty.

Watch a movie outdoors

Why spend time indoors watching your TV when you might be able to do it outdoors? If there is a drive-in movie theatre near you, take your kids along if there is a movie suitable for family viewing. If not, you could have a movie night in your very own garden. It’s easier to set up than you think, as all you need is a projector, a screen (a white blanket will do) and some kind of media player. Check out this handy set-up guide for more information. Arm yourselves with popcorn and drinks, and settle down with your favorite films. Of course, you will need to be respectful of any nearby neighbors so you might want to keep the sound down. Alternatively, invite them along, especially if you are already friendly with them.

Camp Under the Stars

It’s probably too warm to sleep indoors anyway! So, if you have a tent, set it up in your garden and enjoy the (slightly) cooler air. You might want to set up a campfire too, giving you the opportunity to stay warm should the temperatures drop, and the opportunity to toast some marshmallows while telling each other funny or scary stories. Check out these campfire games too; guaranteed ways to keep you all entertained before you finally hit your sleeping bags and head into dreamland.

We hope these ideas were useful, but think about what you might do together as a family. It would be a shame to miss out on bonding time with your kids because once school and work start again, your time will probably be limited. Make the most of these long summer evenings then, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

The Creeping Car Costs We Don’t Figure Into Our Budget

If you’ve been driving for any respectable amount of time, then you know likely know all the costs that you can easily budget for. Your car loan payments, your gas, your insurance and, if you’re prudent, you will budget for future car repairs and services, as well. However, there are some costs of driving and owning a car that we tend to forget to include in the budget. Here, we’re going to give them the attention they deserve.

The car around the corner

Even if you’re still paying off your current auto, you should still be thinking about how you’re going to buy the next one. When most buy a car, they take out a loan for it. However, are you doing the legwork to put yourself in the position for the best deal available? Building your credit now is important for all major future purchases. Start by looking over your credit report for false records. Sensibly use credit cards or overdrafts to build a history. Ensure you’re current with all loans and credit arrangements. Better credit makes it easier to pay for the next car you buy.

Do you pay to park?

This will affect those who live or work in cities, but it’s still a good practice to get into. Tolls and parking should be added to your auto expenses, as it can cost hundreds or even up to a grand a month in the bigger, busier cities. Aside from figuring out what your average parking costs are and figuring them in the budget, you should use tools like Just Park, that could potentially help you find cheaper places to keep your car in the city.

Yes, you should even budget for tickets

Tickets will rear their ugly heads for even the most sensible and safe of drivers. Easy mistakes and overzealous enforcement can result in some unfair ticket handling. Aside from doing what you can to operate as legally as possible on the road, you should also challenge unfair tickets with the help of teams like GetDismissed ticket fighters. You might find that you have to deal with this particular unexpected cost less if you occasionally raise a fuss about it.

Don’t let breakdowns break you

No-one plans to get stuck on the side of the road in a broken-down auto, either, but it does happen. If you’re not prepared for it, the costs of getting yourself picked up and taken to the garage will add an even deeper sting to repair and replacement costs. For that reason, you should look at the protection you can get from roadside assistance. It’s not recurring bill to add to the budget, but manageable and predictable bills are much better than financial emergencies that can up-end your whole budget.

If you want to be financially healthy, then identifying the costs around the corner, even those unexpected ones that you could potentially avoid, is important. By budgeting for the worst-case scenarios, you can save even more in the best-case realities.

And Breathe! Simple Ways To Relax When You’re A Busy Mom

There’s no job in the world more challenging than raising a child. Although being a parent is incredibly rewarding, there’s no doubt that this is a 24-hour occupation that can leave you feeling exhausted. Whether you’re a new mommy, or you’re a seasoned pro with older kids, it’s crucial to find the time to relax and recharge your batteries. Here are some simple ways to chill out and enjoy some well-deserved ‘me time.’

Exercise

If you’re tired and you can’t remember the last time you had a decent night’s sleep, the last thing you might want to do is put your body through its paces. While going for a run or hitting the gym may not be top of your list of things to do, exercise offers a raft of benefits for moms on the go. Physical activity is proven to lower levels of stress, it makes you feel great, and it’s a wonderful way to enjoy time alone or to socialize if you fancy going to a class. You might feel like you’re low on energy going into a session or when you start out on a jog, but after training, you’ll feel energized and refreshed. If you don’t feel like pushing yourself in a HIIT session or going full throttle on a spin bike, choose an activity that will help you to feel peaceful and calm, for example, yoga, swimming or Pilates. Exercise triggers a natural high, and it’s also a brilliant natural remedy for insomnia.

Meditation

Meditation is an ancient practice, which has been used to refocus and clear the mind for centuries. The aim is to transport your mind to a place where you feel completely relaxed and at ease. If you’re stressed out, you feel frazzled, or you haven’t had a moment to yourself all day, taking 5 minutes to embrace the peace and enjoy some downtime could get you back on track. If you’re new to meditation, you can attend guided sessions or simply download apps to listen to on your phone or tablet. Meditation is something you can do anywhere, and you can call upon it as and when you desire.

Creative activities

Most people think of creative activities as fun hobbies, but they offer a lot more. Scientific research suggests that pastimes such as writing, painting, drawing and doing arts and crafts can make you feel happier, reduce stress and anxiety and increase your brainpower. If you enjoy being creative, but your hobbies have taken a back seat since your kids arrived on the scene, devote a little time every week to exercising your creative talents. Dust off your pencils, invest in some new supplies for painting and check out the range of Graphic 45 products online if you enjoy making cards for birthdays and special occasions. It’s fun to do creative activities with kids, but it’s also hugely beneficial to have some time alone to enjoy pastimes that you love.

Hanging out with friends

Human beings are sociable creatures by nature, and the vast majority of us feel better when we have interaction with family and friends. If your reunions have turned into playdates over the years, and you usually spend your time running around after kids or catching up on how the children are doing when you see your friends, take time to arrange some adult-only meetings. Make dinner reservations, catch up properly over lunch or arrange to meet up for a yoga class or a leisurely walk on the beach. Spend time with people who make you feel good. As you get older, and your priorities change, you might find that your circle becomes smaller and you focus on true friends that are there for you through thick and thin.

Run a bath

When you’re a mom, there may only be a very small window of opportunity to enjoy peace and quiet and take a moment to rest. If you can’t leave the house, and you’ve only got 15 minutes until you have to resume parenting responsibilities, run a bubble bath, light a candle, and kick back and relax.

Being a mom can be hard work, and rest periods are few and far between. When you’re on the go all the time, and you feel like you don’t have time to yourself, it’s essential to schedule in breaks to enable you to recover and protect your wellbeing. Exercise as much as you can, spend time with friends, be creative, and ask friends and family members to help you out so that you can enjoy some downtime.

Insurance, What Is It Good For…?

Absolutely everything!

Well, almost. There are some insurances that you should have. The thing with insurance is, so many people skip it. Because they just don’t think they’ll ever need it. Then suddenly something happens, you don’t have insurance, and you are struggling to cover the costs. That is the thing, it is about the ‘what if’ moments in life. And, ‘what ifs’ do happen – prevention is always better than cure, insurance is always better than none.

There are some insurances you should have no matter what. Here they are.

Car Insurance

If you drive, then you need to make sure you have the right insurance. There is nothing worse than being in a scrape with someone who doesn’t have insurance. The fact is though that it is a legal requirement and everyone should have it. You can, of course, have a lower insurance if you have something like Blackbox My Car. Being a safe driver should be rewarded, and the best way to do this is to have something that can automatically how you drive, and a camera that can prove the person of fault.

Life Insurance

If you have a family or a partner, it is even more vital that you have life insurance. Owning your own home in most cases will come with a requirement that you have life insurance – so that if anything happens your mortgage will be paid off and your loved ones can remain safe in their home. And, if the worst does happen, it can also help with the costs of a funeral and paying off any debt you have – so it doesn’t land on the shoulders of your loved ones.

Home Insurance

It might be the case that you are never broken into, that you never experience a house fire – you might be fine forever. But – you can never count on that being true. Although money can’t replace things of sentimental value, it will help you refurnish and repair your home, or provide the funds to find a new place if the damage is very bad. You can even use home insurance to make a claim if your appliances suddenly stop working and you need to get them repaired or replaced. Of course, make sure your policy covers everything you need it to.

Health Insurance

Many countries require you to have health insurance to help you cover the cost of medical treatments. It could be something small like needing antibiotics or something big like a life-threatening illness. Medical expenses stack up very quickly, so it is always worth getting a policy that covers even the basics.

Insurances give you peace of mind. You know that if something does happen, with the right cover that you will be okay. The costs that come with the bigger things in life, like break-ins, crashes, and illnesses are so substantial that in most cases, it will become a massive debt. Of course, you will always need to keep an eye on your policy and make sure that it covers what you need it to.

How Prepared For Emergencies Are You?

We all hope and pray that an emergency is something we will never have to deal with. However, it is a sad fact of life that we almost definitely have to deal with one at some point or another in our lives, whether it is a problem with your health or a problem with your house. Whatever it is, being prepared as far as possible will make getting through the rough patches a lot easier. Here, we share a few tips that you can put in place to deal with anything that comes your way.

Photo by Claudia Barbosa from Pexels

Make sure that everything is up to date.

One of the most important things that you can do to prevent any unexpected emergencies is to make sure that everything in your home and in your life is as up to date as possible. For example, if your boiler requires annual checks, make sure that you schedule them. If you have a car, particularly if it is an unreliable or older model, make sure it is serviced regularly, and anything that isn’t quite right is dealt with swiftly.

Your own health should be even more important than the material objects in your life. If you don’t feel well, make sure that you go to the doctor, and make sure you go for annual check-ups. If you have any health problems, it’s best to treat them as early as possible to ensure the best possible recovery. Likewise, if any family members don’t feel well, encourage them to get medical treatment as soon as you can – keep an eye on any moles that you or your family members might have to ensure that they don’t change shape or texture and make sure that you’re all up to date on vaccinations and medications.

Make sure that you are insured.

Insurance can be one of those things that we think we don’t need – and we hope we won’t need – but without it, things can get very expensive. One of the most important things to have, depending on where you live, is health insurance. Life insurance is also pretty important, especially if you have dependents.  If you are a pet owner, it’s a good idea to have insurance for them – you don’t want the guilty feeling of having to have your dog put down because you can’t afford to get their broken leg treated! You should also make sure that you get home insurance – if your house gets broken into or flooded, then you might lose some sentimentally valuable possessions, but at least you’ll be able to make significant repairs easily.

Remember that there are always solutions.

It is all well and good being prepared in advance for emergencies, but sometimes, things are thrown at us that we couldn’t possibly prepare for. It can take it’s toll financially, so if you need money super quickly, you could opt for a loan. Poor credit can be a barrier to many people, but you can have a look at the guarantor loans calculator to see how much you may be able to borrow. If you are struggling to pay things, make an appointment with your bank and see what they suggest. Remember, they are not the enemy and want to help you find solutions to any financial difficulties that you might be having.

There are food banks available, and if you’re in the middle of a housing crisis, then shelters will help provide your family with shelter, clean clothing, and food.

Build up your savings

When you are going through a tough financial patch, knowing that you have savings to fall back on can be incredibly reassuring. While being able to borrow money, as we mentioned above, can help in the short term, it can sometimes cause issues later, so having savings in place if you can is a much better plan.

Try to save as much money every month as you can – as a general rule of thumb, ten percent of your incomings is a good amount to put in a high-interest bank account. However, if you can’t quite stretch to that, it is absolutely fine to put in what you can. You can also look at skimming to try and save a few pennies or the odd quid here or there.

Sort out escape routes

By this, we mean both physical escape routes and metaphorical ones. In terms of physical ones, you can never ever predict something like a fire, flood, earthquake, or other disasters, which means you have to leave your home quickly.  Make sure that you have your escape planned – you should know a rough area of where your pets sleep at night so you can grab them quickly, and you should ensure that your kids if you have any, know exactly what to do if they smell smoke or notice something strange in your home.  In terms of metaphorical escape, if you need to leave a relationship or start afresh somewhere new quickly for whatever reason, do you have everything you need?

Give children lessons in independence.

Finally, it’s important to raise your kids, if you have them,  to be independent and resilient. If you have to be out for the evening, then you want your teenagers to be able to make dinner for themselves – or at the very least to know how to call for pizza! If you are stuck on the way to doing the school run, can they get home by themselves? Help your kids to be contributing members of your household – and society in general – by assigning them tasks to do so that if they have to take on more responsibility one day because you’re tied up elsewhere, it won’t be too much of a shock to their systems. If your kids are independent, then they’ll be able to help out as much in an emergency as they can.

What You Need To Know About Flu Vaccinations

In today’s blog post, we are going to take a look at flu jabs. This information is helpful to both patients and those in the medical sector.

https://www.pexels.com/photo/person-using-black-blood-pressure-monitor-905874/

Tips For Those Performing Flu Jabs

Courses in administering injections training are highly sought after. Due to governmental relaxation on the ability for pharmacies to offer flu and travel vaccinations, uptake of vaccinations has increased dramatically. In order to perform health vaccinations, pharmacists need to keep their skills up to date according to mandatory guidelines.

While there is only a requirement for face-to-face flu vaccination training every two years, it is still advised that pharmacies provide medical training before the flu season to make sure staff are still up-to-date on their vaccination techniques. This need not be face-to-face, but can be done via an online training provider. One of the most common mistakes that can happen during flu season, due to the high volume of people coming through the doors for flu jabs, is mixing up medicines. This can be done due to poor placement and categorisation, or through mixing up similarly named products. Another simple step is to check the expiry date of the vaccination being used. While this may seem an obvious tip, we can easily fall into the assumption that medicine and vaccines will be in date. Oversights happen. Also, hygiene is incredibly important. It can be so easy to take shortcuts when it comes to hygiene – particularly if the pharmacist is feeling overworked during a busy period. However, poor hygiene can have both a detrimental effect on the quality of the vaccine and may also bring about complications. Always wash your hands; always wear gloves.

Training Drives Correct Procedures

Training to give injections under current guidelines is required by pharmacists working in the commercial market. This training should be updated every two years as mandatory, whether you are a primary care provider, pharmacist, or you work at a hospital. However, during that period, some staff – due to not performing many vaccinations, for instance – may become uncomfortable with remembering proper technique or may try to take shortcuts.

If you run a pharmacy, it is your responsibility to ensure your staff are not acting negligently, particularly in regards to such an invasive procedure as an injection. This need not only cover hygiene, but it can relate to procedure too. For example, some vaccinations require reconstitution via a diluent. The requirements for the storage of such vaccines may vary. Some staff may get into the habit of reconstituting vaccines prematurely. It is advised that it is not good practice to reconstitute vaccinations in advance of usage. If this is the case, then the vaccine should be labelled with the time and date of the reconstitution, along with the initials of the person who performed the action. This ensures that they or a fellow pharmacist can determine if too much time has passed to use the vaccine.

This is just one reason why regular refresher flu vaccination training is good practice. By keeping staff updated on medical training and changes in procedure, this ensures that your vaccination service is free of problems and from complaints; and is trusted by members of the local community who use the service.

Maintain Your HVAC

Your HVAC is an essential part of your home, and vital for keeping your temperatures just right, and ensuring that everyone is comfortable. Your HVAC is probably something that you don’t give too much thought to until it breaks, so it’s worth taking care of it.

Maintaining your HVAC, particularly your air ducts, is crucial to creating a healthy home environment. Over time air ducts can become clogged up with all kinds of dust and dirt which can affect the quality of the air in your home; this is Why you should clean your air ducts and keep your HVAC maintained.

Clean Your Guttering

Cleaning your guttering is a crucial job, gutters perform such an essential role in channeling rainwater away from your home. You will need to check your guttering to keep it free from debris. Leaves and other debris can clog up your guttering and leave it unable to drain away from the rainwater as it should. A clogged up gutter can then cause water to run down the exterior of your home. Over time this can result in problems such as damage to your exterior walls and mold to grow on your interior walls. Luckily by checking your gutters and your downpipes that they run into to make sure that they aren’t clogged or damaged makes it easy to prevent any issues.

The Things To Pay Attention To Before You Buy A Home

Source

Buying a new house is a very big deal. After all, it’s a lot of money that you will be spending on a very big asset – it’s not a decision that you want to mess up, especially as it could be very expensive to move again straight afterwards!

Thankfully, there are lots of parts of the whole purchasing process that have been put in place to help buyers by flagging up any potential issues that they need to be aware of. That’s the main reason why buying a house can be a very lengthy process – it takes time for your real estate attorney to go through all of the documents and details to make sure that you are aware of everything that you need to be.

So, once you find the house of your dreams, you need to know that there are certain things you will be told or given that you need to pay close attention to. Here are some of the most important ones.

Source

The Price

One of the first things that you will know about a potential new home is the price. Hopefully, if you are being wise during your house hunting, you will only be looking for homes that fall well within your budget. That way, there is no chance of looking at and falling in love a property that is way too expensive for you. Once you do know how much the house you want to buy is priced at, you will need to start thinking about getting a mortgage and how much you will be able to borrow. For this, it’s worth speaking to a mortgage broker as they will be able to find you the best kinds of mortgage deals.

Real Estate Agent And Attorney Fees

Don’t forget that you will need to pay for a property attorney to oversee your whole property purchase. If you are also selling a house, you will also need to find a real estate agent to sell it through. Using these professionals is going to cost you money, and you will be expected to pay them in full on the day you complete the house purchase. So, make sure you don’t put all of your money into the house purchase as you will still need some leftover to pay these legal and estate agent bills.

Source

Documents And The Deeds

At some point during the purchase process, your lawyer should draw up a report that should be full of important information regarding your potential new home. It’s really important that you read through all of the documents in this report very carefully. If there are any potential legal issues, then they will be included in this report. For instance, the report should detail any previous attempts at getting planning permission for an extension that might not have been granted. You will also find copies of the property deeds in the report too, which will outline the legal boundaries of the property so that you are aware of exactly how much land will come with your home.

The Property Survey

It is also important that you get a property survey carried out on the house too. In fact, you might need this done in order to get a mortgage. For the survey, a structural engineer will inspect the property and let you know about any potential issues or repairs that might need to be carried out. For instance, they might recommend replacing old single-glazing with new double-glazed windows from this website. Most of the things they flag up shouldn’t be enough to put you off buying the house. However, if you do find that there is some structural subsidence or other expensive work that needs seeing to, then you might be better off walking away from the property and finding on that is problem-free.

Source

Urban Planning

Lots of people look for houses that have great views. For instance, a house in front of a large field will have some spectacular views out of the back bedroom windows. So, you might be very annoyed to find some builders starting to construct a new housing estate in that field just a few months after you move in! To make sure you don’t end up in this situation, ask your solicitor to look into nearby urban planning. They will be able to tell you if construction work is planned in the near future in the surrounding area.

If you pay attention to all of these things then you can be happy knowing your house purchase should be free from any issues!

Five Ideas For Gardening With Children

Any parent knows that time in the garden with your children can be great fun. Whether you’re having a family barbeque, or kicking a football around with the kids, being in the garden together is a great way to make memories together. Teaching your children how to join in with gardening can be a great way to teach them about nature, nutrition and respect for the Earth.

Image

Grow Vegetables

If you have little fussy eaters, or kids who’ve shown an interest in growing things, setting up a simple vegetable garden is a great summer holiday project. Find a good topsoil supplier, and set up a good vegetable bed to start growing some of your own food.

Vegetable dodgers might be more tempted into eating their five a day if they’ve helped to grow it, and you can use the garden to teach the kids about where their food comes from. Use the veg to create fun recipes and the garden can become a great family food source.

Choose easy to grow veggies like sugar snap peas, lettuce, carrots, potatoes or tomatoes. Bright colours, sweet flavours and veggies they recognise from favourite dishes will help the little ones keep interested in growing food with you.

Pot Colorful Flowers

Give the kids a large flower pot each. You could even encourage them to decorate the pots with outdoor paint so they know which is theirs. Take the children to the garden and let them choose flowers from the seasonal displays to plant in their pot.

The seasonal flowers will create an instant colourful display so the kids can see the results of their choices immediately, which is great for toddlers who may have less patience waiting for something to grow.

Make A Fairy Garden

Choose a secluded or sheltered corner of the garden and create a garden together for fairies to visit. Send the children to collect pretty things from around the garden, like stones and fallen flowers to put in the garden. You could visit the garden centre to look for small garden decorations, or even a pet store to buy pieces designed to go in fish tanks, to find small houses, castles or furniture to put out for the fairies.

Add small plants and encourage little ones to decorate with ribbons and leaves. Lay down stones for paths and use twigs for fences. The enchanted space is sure to fascinate small children, and they can begin to build an appreciation for the outside world.

Make Animal Homes

Do something positive for the smaller residents of your garden and teach children about taking care of animals by setting up a bug box. Lay a plant pot down on its side or use an open sided box, and send the children to find things to fill it with. Drill holes in a log for bees to nest in. Add stacks of pine cones, leaves, twigs, dried grass or pieces of broken flower pot to encourage ladybirds, woodlice and other crawlies to live in.

Build or buy a hedgehog house to tuck under a hedge to encourage hedgehogs to stop by your garden. Just remember to feed them cat or dog food, not the traditional bread and milk, as this is actually bad for their stomachs.

Buy a bird table and make filling it with seed and leftover bread part of the kids’ chores. You can enjoy watching winged visitors to the garden together as a family, and maybe even use it to learn about different kinds of garden birds.

To encourage frogs, make a container pond. A pond in a shallow container is much safer for little ones than a full scale pond. Find a container that is large, shallow and has no drainage holes. Add pond plants, and an oxygenator to keep the water clean. Find it a place in the shade and wait for frogs!

Choose Simple Projects

For small children, there are lots of great easy garden activities you can do that don’t require them to pay attention for very long, or have to wait for things to grow or animals to arrive.

Teach the children to make daisy chains, or make small flower crowns from the flowers they choose around the garden. Send them to look for four leaf clovers, or show them how buttercups reflect yellow light under their chins. Ask them to count how many different kinds of animals they can find around the garden, or get them to draw the flower they think is the prettiest. Even very tiny children can interact with the garden and begin to learn to love the outdoors.

How to Get Back on Track After an Accident

Sometimes you can be in the middle of another ordinary day when something comes out of nowhere and changes everything. The unexpected nature of an accident means it can have a considerable impact on your life, and things can change in a split-second.

After an accident, it is natural to feel a wide range of different emotions. You may struggle to accept what has happened, and your physical and mental health may be suffering.

Getting Back to Physical Health

Of course, if you have been in an accident, you should get checked by a doctor to make sure that you are physically well and to get any injuries you may have sorted out. Follow the advice from your doctor on whether you are well enough to work, and what household tasks you can do and which ones you should get help with.

While recovering from your accident, it is essential to follow the doctor’s advice on what you should and should not be doing, to ensure that your recovery process is as speedy as possible. You may need to take pain killers to keep your discomfort under control, but you should seek medical advice so that you know that you are taking the correct dosage.

Taking Care of Your Emotional Health

Being involved in an accident is never a pleasant experience, and can take a significant toll on your emotional health. You are likely to experience a wide range of emotions as you process what has happened. If you feel that the accident is making your mental health suffer, then you should always seek out professional medical advice, and speak to someone that you trust about how you are feeling. Having family and friends around you can be a great support during a difficult time. Even if you do not feel like speaking to them about the accident, spending time around other people or at least chatting on the phone can make a big difference in helping you feel better.

You may find it useful to speak to a therapist so that you can talk through your emotions and work your way through the feelings that have been created by the accident.

Practical Considerations

Although your priority when recovering from an accident will be your health and wellbeing, it is also essential to spend a little time sorting out the practical considerations too. If sorting out the practical side of things seems a bit much to do, prioritize the most important things and make sure everything urgent is handled quickly. Getting the practical stuff out of the way will leave you to focus on getting yourself better, without any worries hanging over you. Practical things to think about getting sorted include; letting your place of employment know about your situation, paying bills, the insurance claim, and childcare arrangements (if you have kids).

When dealing with the practical side of the aftermath of an accident, you may also want to consider consulting a personal injury lawyer to see if they can help you to make a claim if the accident wasn’t your fault.

Take it Easy on Yourself

Recovering from an accident is often a time filled with upset, worry and anxiety, this means that as you begin to recover both physically and emotionally, you will need to be kind to yourself. If you are unable to do things that you would typically be able to do it can feel incredibly frustrating, but remember, there is nothing to say that you won’t be able to do them again in the future. Taking small steps, rather than trying to charge ahead with your recovery, can be more beneficial in the long term, as you will have given yourself more time to heal properly.

Don’t put yourself under unnecessary pressure to do things that you aren’t yet ready for. Instead, let your body and your mind heal by taking things easy, relaxing and focusing on your recovery. Speaking to friends and family or a therapist about how you feel is an excellent way to get yourself on the road to recovery and will help you form a support network around you to see you through this difficult time.

Make sure that you try to get as much sleep as you need to feel better, and try to eat a little to keep your strength up. Trying to maintain a healthy diet during your recovery will help you include lots of nutrients in your diet, which will help your body to get better faster.
