Father’s Day And Beyond: Make Sure Your Partner Feels Valued

Father’s Day will be taking place on Sunday in the United States, and that means you’ve got an opportunity to show your partner – and your children’s daddy – just how much they mean to you. They work hard throughout the year, and you know what they’re like – they don’t expect too much in return for their sacrifices, but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to be treated every now and again. Below, we’ve put together some gift ideas. Don’t worry if you’ve already sorted their Father’s Day gift – or if you don’t have children – as these gifts are appropriate for all, all the year round.

Free For The Evening

Your partner won’t always want a gift: they’ll just want some time to do whatever they want! If you’ve got a home and a family, then there’ll nearly always be busy with the various tasks that need to be taken care of. When you give them a card, slip a little note inside with a ‘Free for the Evening’ card. At some point in the future – maybe when there’s a sporting event on – they can trade in the card and free themselves of adult responsibilities for the night.

Releasing Their Inner Child

The best gifts for men are the ones that make them feel like they’re a child again. That means, doing some cool activities! If they’re mad about cars, then get them a driving experience and let them tear up the track in a car they’ll likely never be able to afford. You can also get them flying experiences, scuba diving sessions, skiing adventures…the list goes on. They’ll get an adrenaline buzz and have the time of their life, we’re sure.

Indulging in their Passion

If your partner is particularly passionate about one thing, then why not build their gift around that passion? If they’re particularly interested in, say, craft beer, then you already know they’d love a trip to a craft beer festival. Buy two tickets – one for them and a friend (maybe you!) – and arrange transportation so they can sample the delicious beers without worrying about getting home. They’re sure to have a passion which is uniquely their own, so use that, and they’re sure to be happy.

Special Attention

If you can’t think of one gift to buy for your partner or don’t have time to think about big gifts, then you can always just make the entire Father’s Day special. Start off with breakfast in bed. Think of an activity they’d like to do in the morning, and treat them to a few small gifts along the way. They can have the afternoon to do whatever they want and then in the evening, prepare their favorite meal or go out to eat at their favorite restaurant. Make it all about them!

Making Every Day Count

You don’t have to wait for Father’s Day or any other day dedicated to them to make your partner feel special. Show them every day! Small gestures of love are easy to do and go a long way to ensure your relationship stays healthy.

The Worst Social Blunders You Can Make At A Big Event

You might think it’s your worst fear when it comes to embarrassing yourself at an event or party: turning up in the same dress as someone else. Well, luckily thanks to this blog post, you don’t need to worry about that anymore. However, there’s quite a few other things that you should be aware of, before heading out to extravagant celebrations.

Turning up late

While sometimes it can’t be helped, turning up late to an event is considered bad taste – unless your plan is to upstage the other attendees! Try to arrive on time, or up to ten to 15 minutes afterwards. Being early might upset the host’s plans, so it’s always best to arrive as near to the dedicated time as possible. If you’re stuck in traffic or have been delayed, let your host know as soon as you can, especially if there’s a sit down meal. Here’s an in-depth guide from The Muse about how late you can be for certain events.

Not bringing a gift

The rules of gift giving can be quite tricky, but if you’re unsure, it’s always best to take one. If you don’t know the host personally, opt for something tasteful but subtle. Nice foods and drinks often go down well. If you’d like to make your gift more special, but you’re running out of time, explore sites like Giftsin24. That way, you can push the boat out with a gorgeous, personalised gift.

Not introducing yourself

If you’re at an event where you don’t know many – or any – people, it’s easy to stick with the few you know, or the host. However, this can make it quite hard work. Your host should introduce you to a few people if you’ve arrived alone, so if you’re unsure, ask them to introduce you to other people at the event. This is a good read on how introduce yourself, if you find that you’re a bit socially anxious.

Doing an ‘Irish exit’

The evening might be in full swing, with people merrily dancing and drinking, but don’t feel you should leave without saying goodbye! Even if your host is busy, they will always appreciate you saying your thanks and goodbyes before heading off. Just remember that if you’ve got a train or bus to catch or a taxi waiting, goodbyes can take quite a long time – so start them earlier than you think!

Getting too drunk

Regardless of whether you’re at a wedding, birthday or anniversary celebration, there’s always one person that gets too drunk. It can be a huge disruption to the hosts, and if there are young children present, can be quite unpleasant. Also, if you’re lucky enough to have an open bar, it shows a huge lack of respect. So, remember everything in moderation! Pace yourself, eat plenty of food, and drink lots of water.

Hogging the host’s attention

Your host has a lot of people to greet, speak to and look after all night – so don’t try to hog their attention. Yes, you want to spend their special day with them, but you need to be mindful that other people do as well. If you’ve travelled a long distance to be there, why not see if you can have a meal together the previous or following day? That way you spend some quality time together, without taking them away from the party.

The Innocuous Health Issues That Can Have Consequences

In life it’s easy to brandish a health issue as innocuous. It’s easy to think something is not harmful because it causes you no pain in the present. It’s easy to think that a health issue you have isn’t problematic or offensive simply because it is ‘common’. Yes, it is easy to think these things. However, thinking this way can lead to detrimental consequences. Below you can find some of the most innocuous, yet surprisingly dangerous, health issues known to man, as well as a few ways to combat them.

First of all, as innocuous as it may seem, the building up of earwax can have a detrimental impact on your health. If left untended and untreated it can cause sudden or partial hearing loss. It can cause sever pains in your ear. It can cause drainage from your ear. And it can even emit an odour from your ear too. So, you should always seek to combat the buildup of earwax, no matter if you deem it to be troublesome or not. One way is to consistently tend to the building of earwax by using cotton buds to clean it away. Another way, if you feel that the build up is too strong to be combatted by the simple earbud, is to seek professional earwax removal. By doing so you would be able to cut this innocuous health issue out of your life before it can take a detrimental hold on it.

Another area of your head/face that you should give precedence to in this vain are your eyes. Going blind is, of course, a big fear for most. As much support as there is out there for people who are unfortunately afflicted with this plight, nobody wants to go or be blind. That’s just the truth. And you can protect your eyes from such a circumstance by refusing to deem any problems you may have with your eyes as innocuous. There are many serious eye symptoms to (excuse the pun) look out for. These include flashing lights, floaters or grey shadows in your vision. Pain felt in the back of your eye. A persistent feeling of discomfort in your eye. And suffering from a constant bout of red eye. If you suffer with any of these symptoms, then stop deeming them too innocuous and ‘common’ to get checked out, and get them checked out by an optician or your doctor.

If you are worried about how to spot the signs of a potentially detrimental circumstances regarding your health arising, then fear not. Your skin plays a massive role in alerting you to any potential dangers your health may face in the future or be facing now. It can even alert you to circumstances that aren’t related to it. For instance, dry patches on your skin could be a sign that you have an underactive thyroid. So, make sure to keep a tab on what your skin is telling you, and make sure not to ignore anything it does tell you!

Everybody takes a different approach when it comes to the attaining of good health. But an approach everybody should take is listening to their body and acting upon what they hear.

4 Tips For Budgeting Your Cash

Dealing with finances is stressful. Unless you’re lucky enough to have won the lottery, it’s likely that you are living to some kind of budget, no matter how big or small. Being able to budget your money isn’t just about knowing where every penny is going. While that is helpful, it doesn’t mean you are budgeting correctly.

It’s said that you shouldn’t live to your means. Ideally, you need to have savings and some money left in your account each month to cover emergency expenses. If your washer broke down, could you immediately afford to cover it, or would you have to borrow? If you would have to borrow, it is fairly likely that you are not budgeting effectively. When you want to buy a big-ticket item like a house or a car, you have to learn to budget your money so you can make savings to afford a deposit or car finance repayments. You can Google “auto loan calculator for how much I can borrow”, but if you don’t have a deposit saved in the first place or understand how to make room in your current budget, there’s no use. So, how can you effectively budget your money so that if the need arises, you can afford a last-minute emergency?

  • Have A Goal. The goal of budgeting isn’t to track every single bit of your cash, the goal is to learn how to control your spending so that you have a surplus. Even the richest person could live to the top of their means and therefore feel like they’re not getting anywhere with their money. It’s important to spend less than you make, and this is the goal of budgeting.
  • Learn To Watch. While tracking every single purchase you make isn’t the goal of having a budget, it’s certainly a good way to learn where your money is disappearing off to each week. Spend a week writing down every single transaction you make, and you can then work out where you are going wrong with your budgeting.
  • Deal In Cash. One of the biggest temptations is paying for things with a card. Plastic doesn’t tell you how much you are spending in any given transaction, it just feels like money in your pocket. By handling physical cash, you can see how much you are spending and watch the money shrink, which can make you think twice about purchases you make.
  • Plan. Having a list of things that you need to purchase can really help you to budget. If you are purchasing a new car, you need to think about the price of the car, the insurance budget you have to spend and the tax you need to get it on the road. You also need to factor in gas money, expenses for repairs and even cleaning costs. Planning your budget correctly and allocating money will help you to understand what you can freely use at the end of each month. Once you understand this, your budget will fall into place.

5 Crucial Ways To Make Your Home A Safe Haven For Kids

When we think of home, we think of all the warm and fuzzy feelings we should get. After all, home is where love runs riot, memories get made, friends are welcome, laughter never ends and our children are always safe. At least, that is the kind of haven our homes should be. However, according to research done by the wonderful organization Safe Kids Worldwide, which dedicates itself to keeping little ones safe from accidental injury, over three million children get harmed in the comfort of their own homes each year.

As such, we have come up with a list of the things you can do to make your home the one place on earth your little ones are as safe as you want them:

Hot Water Hurts

We all know the hazards that a bathtub poses, which is why we are super on the ball when to comes to our bath routine. However, it isn’t just drowning that we need to protect against, it is the chance of burns. Children’s skin is so much more sensitive than ours and that means hot water can scold them without us being too aware. Luckily, there are a couple of things we can do to take action and follow the old mom’s law or, “it’s better to prevent than aid”. The first thing you should do is turn your hot water system down a bit and set it to 48 degrees Celsius (120 degrees F). This will ensure no splashes from the tap scold them by accident. The next thing you should do is get yourself a friendly little bath thermometer. Yes, testing with your elbow is effective but having a bath thermometer is bang on the money with 38 Celsius being the optimum temperature. Looking at that, we’re saving you money as well as tears.

No More Falls

Falling off things or down stairs is the leading cause of accidental injury in kids under the age of 15, and definitely among toddlers. For any parents that have kids, they will tell you that the parenting game changes when your baby becomes mobile. There is no more leaving them in the sitting room while you go and make a cup of tea; oh no, you’re on edge 24/7 once they can get about and the biggest worries are stairs and furniture. So, in order to maintain at least some peace of mind, start by getting some wall-mounted stair gates for both the top and the bottom of the stairs; each set of stairs. As for the rest of you home, let the games begin. Get padding to go on the corners and edges of your tables, and lay padding down on top of your hearths and get catches to go on your sharp knife drawers, and anything else that could be a problem should your unbalanced toddler lose their balance, which they will.

Banish Mold Fast

Mold awareness has definitely increased, there is no denying that, but it is still an issue. What mold does is produce teeny-tiny spores that seriously compromises the air quality of your home. Your children will be most vulnerable to this because their immune systems are still developing. That’s why it is so important that you deal with any mold you come across fast and have a mold removal company come in for a routine check every six months just in case. If you’re wondering about common symptoms associated with mold exposure, the top of the list is respiratory issues like short breaths, wheezing, coughing, sore throat and those types of things. Otherwise, neurological symptoms, skin irritation and eye soreness are also common. Nasty. So, yeah, just have a quick run around your house and look for any signs of mold and call a specialist in anyhow because, like we said, our homes are where are children should be most safe.

Fire Safety Is A Must

We don’t want to throw out any facts or statistics to scare you on this subject, but you should know that children – especially young children – are more at risk than adults when it comes to fires for numerous reasons. This is one of the most critical reasons why you should have smoke detectors on every single floor of your home – including the basement – in every bedroom and on every landing. Not only this, but a monthly testing session should become a ritual in your house. We seriously recommend you pick up your phone, open the calendar app and set a monthly reminder to spend fifteen minutes testing. In addition to this, multi-purpose fire extinguishers and blankets should be accessible too and know how to use them. To use a fire extinguisher just remember to just pull the pin, take aim, squeeze the trigger and cover the base of the fire and don’t stop spraying until the fire has been extinguished like the candles on a birthday cake.

Safe Way To No Bugs

No one wants to live with creepy crawlies or pests, whether it be roaches, mice, bed bugs, termites, ants, spiders, rats or whatever. It just doesn’t encourage a good night’s sleep. However, most pests don’t cause any harm to your children’s health, unlike the pesticides used to clear them out. Yeah, pesticides can really contaminate your home and have been known to cause both neurological and respiratory issues in children. To make sure your family is safe from this kind of collateral damage, we recommend you use a specialist pest control expert and really quiz them about the pesticides they use and the best practices they operate using. If you would rather not go down this route, then we recommend you pest proof your house as best as possible. Use gels and pellets and traps and bait to get rid of any pests you may be living with, and then start proofing your home. Seal off any cracks and crevices, weather strip your doors and windows, look for gaps in your tiling and make sure your kitchen isn’t working overtime as a free for all buffet that serves your unwanted guests, which means putting food in the fridge and keeping your kitchen clean.

Taking The Time For You – Exercising With Kids

It’s no secret that you can exercise without having to subscribe to a gym – how did people in previous generations cope otherwise? There are things lying around your home that can be utilised and turned into equipment with little fuss. The trick is finding the time to get to do it, which can be hard to do in any normal life … but even more so when you’ve got children. It’s true to some extent that your time isn’t really your own any more when you’ve got kids, at least not until they’re a bit older. Their needs come before yours, which can be hard to come to terms with when you’re thinking of all of the things that you used to be able to do. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t get back into exercising if it’s something that you previously indulged in, or start out on a new track for your own health and enjoyment. It just means that your time has to be juggled around more efficiently; work out the time for workouts.

Get Them Involved

The first step to exercising if you haven’t got the time to take to yourself is by getting your children involved. There are so many ways to do this that you’ll be kicking yourself for not starting earlier. If they’re toddler size or under, using your child as an exercise prop isn’t something that’s just for Pinterest – it actually works! Putting them in a sling and finding a dance class or squatting/lunging whilst holding onto them are definite ways to build your core muscle and strength, as is using them as a weight of sorts to lift up and down. Not only is it a great workout for it, but it’s a brilliant source of fun for them and a way to wear you both out. When they’re a bit older and past the point of being able to pick them up so freely, you can get them involved in simple exercises that you’re doing. There are many sites online which are freely available to tell you how to execute the right exercises for your kids to join in with. They can mainly all be done at home and don’t involve other equipment, so it’s a great way of being frugal too.

First Past The Post

If you really want to take time to yourself to throw yourself into a workout, it may be worth getting up before everybody else does. This can be hard for the parents that have kids that are early to rise anyway, but for the ones are prone to a little bit of a lie-in this could definitely be the way forward. While we don’t tend to generally think of an hour as a long amount of time, there is a lot that can be packed into those sixty minutes – especially when you are doing a whole bunch of different exercises. It doesn’t take much to get your heart racing and your blood pumping if you’re doing the right things, and it may just set you up for the rest of the day. Those who wake earlier and get their days started are more likely to be motivated for longer and achieve more things in the time they’re given, so it could be doing more for your work/life balance than you had originally given thought to.

Incorporate Your Routine

You can work out whilst doing anything if you really put your mind to it. Running around after the kids is a great way to get your heart rate up to cardio level, but you shouldn’t just be focusing on that. Think about other things that you do around the home; cleaning is a great one to start with. For example, whilst vacuuming, every thirty seconds you could pick up the vacuum and do five lifts of it before getting back to what you were doing. It’s something that doesn’t take much thought to do

Bring It Home

When you’re working out in a gym, it can be hard to find a spinning bike that doesn’t suck or a cross trainer that hasn’t broken if you’re not the first one stepping into the class. Instead of taking the time to get yourself to the gym, see if it’s possible for you to buy the equipment that you use the most there and bring it home. You don’t have to buy it from your gym especially – although they may be willing to sell it off for a cheaper price if they’re looking at upgrading their current exercise systems, so it’s always worth asking. The internet houses hundreds of sites which can give you great reviews on which is the best for you, both in terms of what you’re wanting and what you can afford to spend.

Ditch The Car

Think back to when you were younger – did you like sitting in the back of the car while your parents were driving you somewhere? As we get older we tend to appreciate the rest more, but when you’re a kid you just want to race off all of the excess energy that you’ve got stored up inside of you. Instead of driving them to school, try walking; if you want to get there quicker, try cycling; if you want to get there in a fun way, try scooting. There are so many options to be able to exercise in place of what you were already doing. It may mean that you have to get out of the house sooner, wake up earlier or get yourself more organised, but where’s the harm in that? Not only will it be helping you and the kids the get fitter, but it’s a cheaper option too; you will be spending so much less on fuel if you’re not using your car.

Pack It In

If you’re doing a workout instead of spending time with your family, you need to ensure that you are really making the most of what you are doing. Being able to pack as much as you can into your exercise should only be exacerbated by the fact that you are doing it instead of something that you want to be doing more so. Think of it as working to a deadline; you know that you need to be doing so much more in the timeframe that you have been given, so try and do as much as you are able to without hurting yourself.

Make A Day Of It

Getting your children involved in any exercise that you’re doing doesn’t mean that they have to come to your hot yoga class with you or sit at the back of the room as you’re spinning away. Instead, you simply have to take the Mary Poppins approach and find the element of fun in anything and everything that you’re doing. Working out together is something that should be exciting and a time to look forward to. Spending whole days riding your bikes around the countryside, running around parks and kayaking down rivers isn’t something that is just allocated to ideal families that you follow on social media; it’s easily accessible and can be done by absolutely anybody. Even if you live in the inner-city, there’s a good chance that there’s a park or open space available for you to utilise and take advantage of in terms of exercise.

Regress – And Have Fun!

There are so many pieces of play equipment out there which children can use to help strengthen their muscles and build up their core. Monkey bars, hoops, poles … they’re all pieces of exercise equipment in disguise! Playing on these things with them is a way for you both to get a workout in. Exercising doesn’t have to be dull by any means, and the more that you can dress it up as something that’s fun, the better it will be for the both of you. You could even consider getting a mini play park put into your garden, or building a small obstacle course for you to have a go at. Challenging each other to beat personal bests is only one way to extend the fun and ensure that you’re really pushing yourself to your limits. It can be such a great way to bond and keep the fun going; if you are enjoying something, you don’t tend to think about the health benefits behind it … and why should you? Don’t focus on what you’re gaining from it personally, but think about what you’re all gaining from your experience as a family; look at the memories that are being made, the enjoyment that can’t be bought and the learning is being done. There are some things that you can’t put a price on, and this is definitely one of them. Taking the time to look past the exercise and concentrating on spending time together as a family can be hard to do when you’ve something else at the forefront of your mind, but immerse yourself in the playground and you’ll have the best time.

When Are Household Disasters Most Likely To Occur?

When it comes to your family home, there is nothing worse than falling foul to a disaster. Admittedly, household disasters do tend to be rare, but once every so often something is likely to go wrong at home, leaving your home in a bit of a mess. Of course, you can put safeguards in place when it comes to disasters by insuring your home against all manner of problems, to make sure that should disaster strike you are covered financially. However, just because your home is insured, that doesn’t mean that you are covered against every eventuality or that repairing your home from a disaster would be a quick job. That’s why it’s worth knowing when the most common household disasters occur so that you can be prepared for them, or at least know what to look out for.

Warm weather disasters

Fires: Because of how dry the weather often is, in the warmer summer months fires are more likely. This includes both wildfires, if you live in an areas that is prone to them, and household fires. Although often there’s little that you can do to prevent a fire, what you can do is ensure that your home is fitted with fully functioning smoke alarms that will warn you and your family if there is a fire in or near your house. Calling the fire service early can be the difference between your home burning to the ground and some minor damage, so the sooner you are alerted to a fire, the better.

Plumbing problems: In the warmer months we tend to use more water, which means that our homes are more prone to plumbing problems. If you live near a beach or you and your family spend a lot of time outdoors, then your home’s plumbing could end up blocked with sand or dirt, as every time you come in from the beach or some other outdoor activity, you most probably take a shower. To prevent plumbing problems, brushing off as much sand or dirt outside your home is a good idea. If you do notice that your plumbing is blocked, the best thing to do is call a plumber as soon as possible, to prevent the problem from getting worse.

Cold weather problems:

Burst water pipes: One of the most common cold weather problems is burst water pipes, as every winter thousands of homes will end up having pipes bursting because of the cold weather. To make burst water pipes less likely, you could contact a company like Heat-Line about the anti-freezing products they offer to prevent water pipes from freezing up in the cold winter weather. Sure, it might be an investment, but if it will prevent disaster from striking, surely it’s worth it?

Infestations: In the colder months, household infestations are twice as likely as in the summer months. This is because as the weather gets colder, rodents, insects, and other animals look for somewhere that offers them protection from the elements. If your home has any small holes in the exterior, such as in the roof, for instance, this can give insects, and animals access to your home, which they can then go on to infest. To prevent an infestation becoming serious, it’s important to call out a pest controller as soon as you can, to get the infestation under control.

The fact is that a household disaster can strike at any time, but the disasters mentioned above are more likely to occur at certain times of the year.

New Horizons: Preparing For A Big Move

Pexels

A big move to a new town or city comes with its fair share of anxieties and stresses, and this can be doubly so if you have young children. The task of getting ready to move, combined with the settling into a new area can take its toll, so when it comes to getting things done, what can you do to make it a swifter and easier process overall?

The first part is about getting your soon to be vacated property cleared out properly. You will need the help of movers, not just for the basic moving of your household items, but some moving companies also provide storage facilities. If you are moving a big distance, and you’re selling your home, you will want to get rid of a lot of your clutter quickly too, so if you are under pressure to get out ASAP then relying on professionals will help to make the process run smoother. Once you have finalized everything from the vacated home, you can begin to set up your new life in your new location.

Once you’ve made the big move, the first things on the list to tick off are any maintenance issues. Check the plumbing and the sinks and faucets for any abnormal leaking. You can also check to see if there is an invisible leak by checking the water meter once and then checking a few hours later but without using any water in that time period. You should also change the locks because you don’t know about everyone who has lived there before you. Also, find out where your water stop tap is and where your circuit breaker/fuse box is right away. That will be your lifesaver if you get a power cut. And get your insurance comprehensively covered. It will depend on the area and the house how much you should pay per month, but it’s in your best interest if you have valuables and are making a bit of a blind leap into this new neighborhood, especially if you had to relocate swiftly due to a job offer for example.

Once the big stuff has been dealt with, it’s time to get to know the area properly. This will be your home for the foreseeable future, and if you have children going to a new school. If you have toddlers, the effect may not be as bad as those who are older. As they will be starting again, you should be prepared for emotional highs and lows, especially if you have teenagers who feel they don’t fit in. What you need to do is to get them into their old routine as quick as possible. This isn’t meant to “paper over the cracks” but merely provide them with something they know to be able to adapt to their surroundings better.

It can take a while for everyone to adjust, but by making the transition as smooth as possible, from the moving to the children settling in, it will make living somewhere new a better life for everyone.

Want To Work Out At Home? Here’s What To Put In Your Home Gym

https://www.pexels.com/photo/woman-in-white-jacket-holding-silver-iphone-196654/

Even when you want to prioritize your health and fitness, sometimes the prospect of joining a gym can be a bit too intimidating. So, you can often feel like you’re stuck when it comes to options for working out. Although you may do the odd fitness class, or play sports with your kids to keep them active, you may still want a good way to get a killer workout in. When that’s the case, you may benefit from creating your own gym at home. It doesn’t even have to be anything special, just a space that you can work up a sweat in. If that sounds like a good idea to you, here’s how to go about getting it set up.

First Things First

But, before you get ahead of yourself and start looking for the equipment, you’re going to want to make sure that you have a dedicated space to create your gym. It needs to be somewhere that you can not only fit your equipment in, but that allows you the space to workout in peace. Sometimes, it can be great to create an area in your garage or basement, or even convert an old spare room that you’re currently not using.

Weights

Okay, so now that you’re ready to start bringing equipment into your dedicated workout space, you’re going to want to think about getting some weights. Resistance training is a great way to tone up, burn fat and feel super strong. But, to do it, you’re going to need something like free weights or kettlebells, or even some workout machines if that’s the route you want to go down. You can often find a lot of used options online if you want great quality for half the price.

Cardio Machines

Next, cardio. We all love to get a cardio workout in every once and awhile, so it’s always super handy to have a machine, or two, to help you do that. Although you also have the option to go with a treadmill or cross trainer, you might want to read why this Walmart exercise bike is especially popular before you decide. That way, you’ll be sure to get the right machine for your workout and at the right price.

Mats

Then, you may also want to think about creating a sort of mat-based workout area in your gym space. Mats can be great for a range of different exercises. Not only are they ideal for training abs on, but they’re also perfect for stretching on. And it’s super important to stretch off after every workout. You may even be interested in doing a little yoga from home. When that’s the case, you ought to look at the right yoga mat to add to your space too.

Accessories

Finally, you might want to think about the other accessories that could be just the home gym essentials that you’re looking for. Not only may a workout ball or medicine ball be great for your workout routine, but you may want a jump rope or bands, or even a step or workout bench to make sure your workout is on point.

Being a stay at home mom is one of the most amazing things in the world. But the pressures of being a stay at home mom in what is a society that almost ruthlessly demands a family has two incomes can be stressful. Being a mom is the most rewarding job in the world and the hardest too. You work around the clock, you go above and beyond, there are no sick days and sometimes the people you are working for (kids!) are the least compromising people you’ve ever met. Yet, despite all your hard work, you aren’t adding to the family coffers and that can be immensely stressful. You don’t get a paycheck.

Luckily for you, we have done a bit of digging, searched for great money-saving resources for moms and dads, and came up with some amazing ways in which a full-time parent can earn a bit of extra cash on the side. This means you can help with the financial pressures of living while not having to sacrifice any time with the kids. Hopefully, there is something for everyone.

Test The Web

We live in a world that is completely infatuated with the web and this can play right into your hands, as UserTesting will attest. All you have to do is test websites and give verbal feedback on your experience. They only take about twenty minutes each and the average pay is ten bucks. So an hour a day for five days, wow, that’s an extra $600 a month. What’s even more amazing about this avenue is that you get given sites that match up with your profile, this way your feedback becomes even more valuable.

People Pay For Opinions

It may only grant you a few extra dollars at a time, but taking surveys online. How long they take varies as does the amount you get paid, but over the course of a month or a year, it could make a huge difference to your utility bill fund. Companies like SurveyClub and Swagbucks pay you money for every survey you complete, while Harris Poll rewards you with points that can be redeemed for gift cards, with the occasional cash prize thrown in. So make sure you know what you want first and then go from there.

Sell Your Photos

With the rise of Instagram and smartphones that have six-hundred million megapixel cameras built-in, everyone has become fascinated – and dare we say obsessed – with photography. Chances are, you are nodding your head right about now. This is a good thing because if you have started to become quite the amateur photographer you could start turning your snaps into cash. Sites like Shutterstock and Foap are a great source of supplementary cash. All you have to do is upload your photographs and, voila, if someone downloads it you could get anywhere between fifty cents and $300 depending on the licensing fee.

Be A Professional Juror

More and more attorneys and law firms are using panels of mock jurors to get constructive criticism on their cases before they head to trial. Seriously. Our favorite of the ones we came across is OnlineVerdict, where cases rarely take more than an hour and you can get paid up to sixty bucks. Like we said earlier, the internet has given birth to so many alternative ways of making money and you don’t even have to leave the kids. It’s crazy, but it’s cool.
