Life Insurance Excuses And Why They’re Baloney

Photo file

Do you have life insurance? 59% of adults already do, yet that still means 41% don’t and it’s a huge percentage. It’s not that people fail to see the relevance – it’s hard to miss when you ponder your mortality. It’s more that there are excuses that take precedent. The significant minority that believes in them let them impact their decision making to the point where they don’t invest whatsoever.

Sadly, this method is a massive gamble as the excuses are baloney and they don’t make sense. For the non-believers, here are the things to remember the next time you put off buying a life insurance policy.

It’s Too Expensive

With the rest of your bills piled up on top, an insurance policy feels as if it’s an indulgence. You’re barely going to need it so there’s no point in forking out when the percentages are in your favor. Number one: everything can happen at any time so this isn’t always the case. Number two: a comprehensive policy doesn’t have to come at a premium. For those who can’t keep up with the payments, treat it like a credit card and pay the monthly minimum. Usually, this is the cost of a week’s worth of coffee.

It’s Included With My Job

Employers are interested in their employees and provide extensive incentives. Life insurance is just one of the many perks that you might receive with your contract. However, it’s only a basic policy and won’t safeguard your family’s finances for the long-term. Remember that they have to do this for every worker and it costs them a fortune. Therefore, it’s a wise move to start a separate agreement outside of the office. That way, you can contribute and ensure the length or level of payout is adequate for your loved ones.

I’m Fit And Healthy

Anyway, it’s a waste of money because you’re fit and healthy and in great shape. You eat right, go to the gym, and attend regular checkups with your physician. Even the medical expert agrees – you’re going to live for a long time. Protecting rights of family members is about more than what you can predict – it’s about the unpredictable. There’s no way to tell when a slip or a fall or a crash on the highway will lead to a fatality. And, if you’re not properly covered, there is no backup plan. Insurance companies won’t accept applications from people with injuries as it increases the likelihood of a payout.

I’m Unattached

It’s not as if you’re a loner without any responsibilities, but you’re not married and don’t have kids. Some people see this as an excuse because there’s nothing to leave behind. Plus, it’s tough for non-spouses to get paid. In reality, this isn’t the case as partners and family members will receive help after your passing. Friends are eligible too. Anyone confirmed as a beneficiary in the policy will stand to benefit regardless of your marital status.

There are no excuses – life insurance is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle.

Keeping Yourself Healthy When You Have A Busy Lifestyle

It seems that as we get older, our lives become a lot busier than they once were. Where student life now seems like a breeze, adulthood is a whirlwind of activity. From our careers to our social life, to settling down and looking after a busy household. How can you keep yourself healthy when you have an active lifestyle?

Learn to Say No

It’s easy to say yes to everything, but if we don’t set aside time for ourselves then we can end up running ourselves into the ground. So the next time someone suggests doing something, and you have a jam-packed week, reschedule it for a later date. They’ll understand, and it means you won’t let them down if you said yes and then end up cancelling closer to the time. The same goes for your work, if your manager has given you even more tasks, don’t be afraid to say no and that you’ve got enough already. It’ll help build your relationship and improve your workload.

Good Food Choices

Eating healthily is something some of us may struggle with, especially if we don’t have the time to meal plan properly and need fast food. If you are too busy to have a proper healthy meal, try breaking down your meals but eating healthy snacks instead of junk food. Get plenty of fruit, vegetables and protein and avoid carbs and fatty foods. Processed foods are easy and cheap, but they can contain a lot of sugar and salt which is obviously not good for your health. You’ll find your energy levels are a lot higher if you make the right food choices, so make a conscious effort to change up your eating habits.

It’s also worth finding out what you might be intolerant to as this unknowingly can have an impact on your health. Cutting down on alcohol is also a great way of avoiding sickness and the benefits of quitting drinking for a while is certainly noticeable.

Get Plenty of Rest

We don’t notice the benefit of a good night’s sleep until we have one. Most of the time, we’ll cut down on rest because our lives get so busy. We don’t have enough hours in the day to get everything done. Sometimes that’s fine but done over a long period of time will end up with you being exhausted, making everything ten times harder. It’ll also impact your ability to focus which can affect your work productivity. Try and get 7-9 hours of sleep per night and don’t deny your body an extra hour or two if you need it. Afternoon naps can affect your sleep pattern but may be needed if you have had a late night the previous day before. Rest is needed to repair our bodies so always make this a priority if you’re feeling run down or tired. Don’t try burning the candle at both ends!

You can have a busy lifestyle but remain healthy and fit if you follow these tips. So give them a go and see the difference.

Mothering And Mortality: Coping With Death When We Have Children

Source

Death. It is one of those unfortunate things in life we’ve all got to deal with in some way. But when we are dealing with aging relatives, or perhaps our parents, and we know that the end is on the horizon, it could be heartbreaking for us to cope.

But also, if we have children, we’ve got to try and that’s fine balance between grieving healthily and getting on with our lives. What are the best ways to deal with this?

Honest Communication With The Children

It could be very upsetting for you, but it can be upsetting for the children as well, especially if they feel left in the dark. It’s important to communicate with your children as openly and honestly as possible, but spare them the gory details.

This is a very difficult thing to get right. After all, our children want to know why something is happening, but there is a way for us to do it sensitively. Be prepared, your children will get upset, and there is no way of shielding them from this.

Dealing with The Admin Methodically

As frustrating as it can be to deal with probate lawyers, closing bank accounts, and other administrative tasks, we can use it as a way to keep pushing forward.

Grieving healthfully isn’t about sitting in silence, and in fact, dealing with a lot of these little issues that drag out over the months and years can threaten to get in the way of your role as a parent.

Just understand that these things take some time, and as frustrating as it can be that it drags out for so long, as long as you’re dealing with it calmly and ensuring you are not letting the number of tasks overwhelm you, you can approach it in a methodical manner.

Understanding That It Takes Time

Understanding That It Takes Time

Coping with the death of a parent, when we have our own children to look after, is a mixed blessing. On the one hand, we can focus on our children as a coping strategy, but on the other hand, we can focus so much on them, we ignore our own inclination to grieve.

By no means should you avoid grieving, nor should you use your children as an excuse. So many people say they haven’t got time, and there are so many things to do. Make time. It’s important, for your own health and happiness that you dedicate time to go through it.

You may find your emotions get the better of you at the worst possible time, but the grieving process is unique to each and every one of us, and we go through it in our own way. Don’t ignore it.

As difficult as it can be to cope with stresses in life when you’re a parent, when you lose one of your parents, your child’s grandparents, you have to understand the importance of processing the information.

As parents who are too busy, especially in modern life, it seems there is little time for grief- let’s change this.

How To Get Your Kids To Appreciate Wildlife In Your Own Backyard

There is plenty of wildlife out there for your kids to experience, and as a parent, you should definitely take family time out together to go and look at it together! Whilst you can do this by visiting parks and farms, you can also make your backyard the perfect place for experiencing some of the wonders that nature has to offer.

If you want to teach your kids how to appreciate wildlife, follow these simple tips to make it possible! Not only will your kids love it, but it will help you to relax, too…

Plant the perfect flowers

If you want to attract butterflies and bees into your garden, then you need to make sure that you’re planting the right flowers in order to attract them. Whilst the flowers that you can buy at the store may look pretty, they may not always attract the wildlife that you’d think that they would.

Instead of going off of looks, make sure to look into which flowers actually attract the insects that you want to come into your garden, like wildflowers. Not only does this help to save the bees, but it helps your children to learn what kind of insects there are, and it will enable them to grow up alongside them with all of the knowledge that they need.

Get a wildlife-friendly pond

If you want your kids to see a variety of different animals, then look no further than getting a little pond in your backyard (or a bigger one depending on how large it is) to attract some wildlife into your area. Not only are ponds great for fish – which your kids will love to watch and feed – but they also attract birds who come to drink from the water, and dragonflies, who reproduce in water and as such will always be nearby.

Having a pond is not as time consuming as you would think, as you can get Tsunami pond pumps to keep them clean, so have a look into this if you want your kids to see a variety of different creatures!

Think of the birds

When you start to cater for the wildlife in your backyard, your children’s lives will be changed as they watch all of the different types of animals come and visit. One of the best things that you can do to promote this is putting food out for the birds (such as fat balls) and bird tables and feeders, to make your outdoor space more appealing to them.

If they start to realize that you have food on offer, they will start building their nests nearby, and you will have a lot of birds around for your children to birdwatch! You can count how many species you can all see, and you can also look out for nests and chicks, which your children will love to do.

So, if you want to get your kids to appreciate the wildlife in your backyard, there are many things that you can do, from planting the perfect flowers, to getting a wildlife-friendly pond. Enjoy the wildlife with your family!

Is Your Family Emotionally Healthy?

Some families, you may have noticed, tend to be a little dysfunctional. Some of them like it this way, have no desire to change, and that’s fine. We’re not here to judge! However, dysfunctional family relationships tend to be much tougher to navigate than a healthy relationship.

If you put the work in now, while your children are young, you can ensure that you have an emotionally healthy family that won’t experience any major issues.

Let’s take a look at a few pointers that can help you out if this is what you want to achieve:

Setting Clear Boundaries

One of the best things you’ll ever teach your children is showing them how to teach other people how to treat them. Healthy families always have clear boundaries on how family members treat other members, so make sure setting clear boundaries is a priority of yours.

The older and more independent your children become, the more opportunities they should have to set boundaries. They won’t be able to do it while they are too young, but this is something you should bear in mind.

image

Kindness And Compassion

It’s normal to take your family for granted and assume that they are always going to be there, but it’s important to pay attention to one another and be emotionally available for one another.

You should show compassion and empathy, and listen and discuss things when needed. You will show your kids how to do this when they are young more than anything. Remember that most of the time, you are setting an example for how things should be.

Intelligently Expressing Emotions

Really emotionally healthy families actively and consciously learn to practice emotional regulation. It would be a little unrealistic to expect people to have it together 24/7, but even when dealing with difficult situations, you should bear in mind when you are letting your emotions get the better of you.

If you’re dealing with the loss of a loved one, perhaps in a terrible circumstance like some of the wrongful death cases in the news, then of course you will feel out of sorts. However, it’s important you remain self aware, and it’s probably a good idea not to break down and speak to young children about adult things that they won’t understand just yet.

Also, never make statements laced with contempt, verbal or emotional abuse even when you are very upset or angry.

Celebrate Individual Accomplishments and Embrace the Differences

Healthy families do not compete with one another. Competition and rivalry can be considered normal within specific parameters, but it’s not good for siblings if they constantly feel the need to get one up on one another.

Make sure you make the effort to celebrate individual accomplishments and embrace the differences of one another (or at least accept them) for a truly happy family dynamic.

So, is your family emotionally healthy? Hopefully, you have a good idea by now. If you have any other thoughts on what it takes to be an emotionally healthy family, leave your comments below.

A New Home For Your Young Family: What do You Need to Consider?

Is your current home unsuitable for your growing family? Finding something new can be exciting and stressful in equal measures, there’s lots of different elements you’ll need to get right. Here are a few things to consider when finding the perfect new home for you and your young family.

Budget

First things first, when it comes to searching for a new home you’ll need to know what you can afford. If you already own a home, you can find out what it’s worth on a site like William Pitt, otherwise the bank will let you know what your maximum price is when you’re applying for your mortgage.

Once you have your budget, you can instantly narrow down your choices and start looking through the properties that you’re able to afford. While it can be nice searching through high end homes, it’s best to keep focused on the task at hand when you’re realistically looking for a place to live!

Space

Having enough space for a growing family can be a tricky one. As your children get older, chances are they’re going to want their own room. And if you’re not entirely sure that your family is completely, you might need to consider an extra room for another baby later down the line. If you work from home, will you need your own office?

Are the living spaces and garden big enough for your family to live and grow in? Be sure to take space seriously, at the very least, make sure you have room to extend later down the line if you need to.

Accessibility

When your children are small and you’re using a pram or pushchair every day, you need a home that’s going to be easy to get in and out of. For this reason, apartments or homes with lots of stairs to get up might not be the best option.

It’s something to consider when you’re drawing up the checklist of things you want your new home to have.

Safety

As a parent, keeping your child safe will be one of your absolute top priorities. So it makes sense that you’ll want to find a home that’s safe. Security is an issue to consider, you might not have the luxury of being able to live in a gated community, but do some research on the area.

There are lots of crime stats and other data you can find freely just from Googling. Properties that are right by main or busy roads can also be worth avoiding when you have kids, all it takes is for one door to be left open and you could have a small child wandering out into the road.

Things like swimming pools and large ponds can also be dangerous for children, if you plan on buying a home with these features then think about the costs involved in filling them in or fencing them off. Consider the overall safety and security of the place before you sign on the dotted line.

Could You Do More To Safeguard Your Money Today And Tomorrow?

The short answer is probably “yes”, especially if you have a family to support in a financial sense. Maybe you have a partner or a family member who contributes to the household income, but financial stability depends on more than having multiple earners in the family. It’s about planning more than earning. Bringing in a good income is important, of course, but the essential thing is deciding how to use your income well in your current situation

and any future situation. In this article, we’ll look at a few ways to safeguard your money today and tomorrow.

Protect your information.

If you want to protect your money then you need to protect your information. This is an important piece of advice to take on board because thieves are always coming up with new ways to steal information. Increasing numbers of people are falling victim to theft and fraud. You might want to do some research on preventing credit card fraud to see if there’s more you could be doing.

It’s important that you take all necessary steps to safeguard your bank details. In this digital age, you should definitely take steps to protect yourself online too. You might want to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to shield your computer, phone, or tablet screen from hackers who might be trying to watch what you’re doing to steal personal information. If you want to safeguard your money then you need to safeguard all the platforms you use to spend it.

Assess your monthly bills.

Most people squander their money simply by failing to lead a fiscally responsible lifestyle. If you want to protect your personal finances so that you have disposable income to set aside for savings and investments then you might want to look another look at your basic costs. You should regularly assess your monthly bills to see if you’re wasting money.

You’ll probably find expenditures that you could easily reduce without having to drastically change your lifestyle. If you’re not compromising on your quality of life then doesn’t it make sense to simply save some money? It’ll improve your financial situation for your family today and tomorrow.

Maybe you like having a warm home, for example, but you could get thicker glazing for your windows, insulate the walls, get draft protectors, and put throws on couches. Those solutions are all much better than turning up your thermostat.

It’ll massively reduce your monthly energy bill. As for shopping, you should always search for coupons and discounts to use in the present and the future. You’ll be buying the same goods for less money. This one needs no explanation. The point is that you could have much more available money in your bank account if you assessed your monthly bills and reduced unnecessary expenses.

Ensure your family has a secure financial future.

Obviously, you can never predict the future. You might win the lottery, or you might end up in a job with a lower wage. But whatever your financial future holds, you can create safety nets for the family. Building up some savings, for example, is always a smart move. But there are other decisions you can make today to ensure that your family has a better tomorrow. Even if you’re still young, you could write up your will.

That way, you’ll be able to make plans to ensure that your family has a secure financial future. You want to make sure that you’re the one who decides what to do with your assets.

Ideas For A Healthy Mind and Body

Our health should be the most important thing that we consider after all our quality of life is directly linked to how healthy we are. However, it can be the case that looking after ourselves falls by the wayside due to mitigating factors that happen in our everyday lives, causing distractions.

Well, for those of you looking to get back to full fitness or interested in pursuing a different way of living, here is are some options for you to look at and consider.

Exercise

One of the hardest things to do in our busy lives is find time to get our bodies moving, but it is so important for so many reasons. For starters, if you are worried about weight gain, then you will find that exercise will soon have a positive influence on you.

In addition, the strains of modern life can cause a number of mental health issues and exercise has been scientifically proven to help avoid or improve your health in this regard. We started by discussing health and it is important to remember that that refers to mental as well as physical.

So, what sort of exercise is right for you? Well for starters you’re going to want to break it down into three categories and see which one can fit into your schedule. There is the gym for those people looking for somewhere to go.

A gym has a lot of benefits such as access to a wide range of equipment and the knowledge of fitness professionals, but it can also be expensive and time-consuming. If the gym isn’t for you, you might want to consider what type of home exercise you can do.

Fitness DVDs or online guides are available for workouts like DDP yoga. This type of exercise doesn’t have to take up too much time, in fact, you can set your own schedule. It does require the space to get an exercise mat down so that you aren’t hurting your body doing stretches and poses.

Finally, the outside fitness plan. If you like to run or cycle you should look into getting outside and getting some fresh air in your body while you work it. This type of exercise can be a little more strenuous and reliant on the weather, but you can prepare for some conditions in advance with all-weather clothing.

Diet

Exercise is half the battle and, as discussed, has benefits on your overall health. Well, so does your diet. People who have a diet high in whole foods like fruits and nuts are reportedly 35% less likely to experience mental health issues. So consider your diet not just about your physical health, but once again about your mind.

Quick fix diets are to be avoided; your diet plan should be something that is part of a long-term strategy. You might want to consider a diet that compliments your exercise routine like that proposed by KetoLogic, or something which is more based around your busy home life as recommended by WebMD.

Protecting Your Family’s Finances

Money, Profit, Finance, Business, Return, Yield

Image Source – Are you taking enough care with your finances?

Money isn’t the most important thing in this world, but it’s hard to survive without it. So, every parent should take the necessary precautions to ensure that their financial situation is under control. This doesn’t mean that you have to be rich. Instead, you’re looking for stability and security.

Keeping your family’s finances in good health will provide peace of mind and allow you to focus on more important factors. Here are five ways to make it happen.

Live a cost-efficient life

There’s nothing wrong with spending money in this world. However, wasting money is something that everybody should try to avoid at all costs. From using grocery coupons to running price comparisons on utility bills, those simple steps can make a big impact. When the sum of money leaving your bank account is reduced, a huge weight is lifted from your shoulders. Above all else, it’ll provide a sense of self-confidence that can spur you on to success in other areas.

Understand your situation

Protecting your family finances largely revolves around maintaining a sense of control. This is almost impossible to do if you haven’t painted a full and fair picture of your financial health. Getting organized is essential and can be achieved by listing all of your incoming and outgoings on a spreadsheet. Meanwhile, you must not ignore key issues such as your tax implications. Otherwise, you could be hit with a nasty surprise when those bills hit you.

Fight for entitlements

As a parent, you’re probably eligible for some help from various government schemes. However, only you can make things happen and must take a proactive approach to ensure that you are awarded those fees. On a separate note, you should know how to gain financial support when life throws tough moments your way. Finding wrongful death attorneys with years of legal experience could make a huge impact if you lose a loved one. Fighting for financial justice is a must.

Build a rainy day fund

Savings are a crucial ingredient in the recipe for long-term stability. However, your 401k plan is merely the start. Studies suggest that the average family would struggle to deal with an unexpected bill of $500, and this is something you need to change. Have a savings pot or a separate bank account and slowly add funds as and when you can. This will prepare you for those unforeseen issues, allowing you to avoid payday loans and other desperate measures.

Protect your personal details   Taking the right steps on an individual level is one thing, but you must not ignore the influence of outside factors. The harsh reality is that a lot of fraudsters will try to get to your money. Being aware of the various scams doing the rounds will help you stay protected. If you use online banking or have a smartphone App, you must be sure to embrace solid data protection. Even if your insurance firms will cover any losses, the stress it causes is huge. Prevention is always the best protection.

How To Make Sure That Your Home Is Secure

We always hear about break ins, but never think that it’s going to happen to us. Sure, your door is locked, so how can anybody get into your home? However, you could be more vulnerable to break ins than you thought, and many thieves are clever enough to use other methods of entering your home. Not only does this present the risk of your belongings being stolen, but harm could come to your family, too. Read on if you want to know how to make sure that your home is secure!

Invest in a home security system

The most failsafe way to protect your home is by getting a home security system. There are many of them out there, and they work as visible deterrents to thieves, as people can often tell that you have one installed. As soon as somebody attempts to enter your home, the alarm will sound and you’ll have enough time to notify the authorities, and see what’s actually going on.

Not only do they offer personal protection, then, but they also make thieves think twice about entering your home, so have a look what home security systems you can purchase if you want to make your property secure.

Make sure that all entrances to your house are secure

Ok, so your front and back door seem to be secure, but have you really thought about every way that thieves can enter your home? For example, are all of your windows lockable and in good working order, and if there is an entrance to your home through the garage, then is the door secure?

It can be quite easy to break in this way, especially if there is a problem, so look up a garage door repair company if you want to make sure that everything is as it should be! Don’t make the mistake of thinking that it won’t happen to you, as you’ll kick yourself if it does and you didn’t get help from a professional.

Befriend your neighbors

One of the best ways to protect your home is befriending those in your local area. Not only can this help you in general as they will notice anything out of the ordinary that happens to your home, but they will also be able to keep an eye on your property when you go on vacation, or away anywhere for a few days.

They can also alert the police if your home security system goes off, and it is just generally a good idea to make sure that you’re all looking out for each other. So, befriend your neighbors if you want to make sure that your home is secure, especially if you’re not there!

There are many ways to make sure that your home is safe from thieves, from investing in a home security system to making sure that all of the entrances to your property – such as the garage – are secure. Befriending your neighbors is also a good idea, as they will be able to see if anything suspicious occurs. Make sure your home is safe, and you’ll be glad that you did!
