Smart Ways To Clear Credit Card Debt For Good

Listen, most of us aren’t financial experts and don’t know the ins and outs of certain financial things. Especially when we were younger, and we sort of went with the flow and did things without thinking. There are loads of people that got a credit card in their early twenties, used it wildly, and are now sitting on a mountain of credit card debt.

As far as debt goes, credit card debt is one of the worst you can have. It quickly piles up and can leave you feeling swamped. You start to wonder if you’ll ever get out of debt. Luckily, there are ways to completely clear your credit card debt and have one less financial thing to worry about.

(Image via: http://bit.ly/2hh9nKh)

Consolidate Your Debt

This sounds like some highly technical financial wizardry, but it’s actually a fairly simple concept to get your head around. Essentially, you can take out a loan and use it to pay off all your credit card debt. If you visit various loan comparison sites, you’ll see how much it costs to borrow as much money as you need to cover your debt. Why do this, I mean, surely it just keeps you in debt anyway? This is true, but you’re in a much more manageable debt now. You’ve no longer got credit card bills and payments racking up all the time and piling the misery on your finances. Instead, you’ve got a simple loan payment plan to follow, which should be designed to fit your budget and make life easy for you. Consolidate your credit card debts, and you no longer have to worry about them.

Move Your Balance To A Different Card

Credit cards have different interest rates depending on which one you applied for. Often, you can rack up a lot of debt on your card, and get slapped with huge interest rates too. This makes the debt spiral out of control, and get bigger and bigger. One smart idea is to move your credit card balance from one card onto a new one with lower interest rates. This can stop your debt from bloating rapidly, and save you lots of money every month. It makes the debt more manageable, and you should be able to pay it off quickly without as much fuss. Of course, make sure you’re fully committed to paying off the debt, or else you’ll take too long, and the interest rates can skyrocket on the new card too.

Lock Your Cards Away

If you’ve got credit card debt, stop using your credit card! Lock it away in a drawer, and you will make life so much easier. Pay by cash or using a debit card instead. Keep using your card, and you run the risk of increasing the debt every month. It makes it harder to get rid of, and you’ll be in debt for longer. But, stop using the card, and you have a fixed amount of money to pay off, and will stop racking up extra charges and more debt.

Credit card debt is like a financial fire. You need to stamp it out while the flames are small and manageable. Otherwise, the fire can grow into a beast that’s very hard to extinguish. Use my advice to help gain control of your financial situation and clear your credit card debt for good!

Energy Hacks For The Busy (That Don’t Involve Caffeine)

Pixabay

It’s fair to say Life is a bit draining sometimes. And when you are a busy parent with a job, trying to hold down a relationship, as well as some sort of social life.  It can be a big drain on your reserves. So are there any tricks to keeping your energy levels up when you have a busy life? There are plenty and surprisingly these have nothing to do with caffeine!

Trick Number One: Get All Your Nutrients

This is probably the most important thing of all. If you don’t have the right nutrients to keep your body going, you are going to feel drained regardless of how much sleep you have. So, apart from having a wide and varied diet make sure you have the right supplements in place to keep your strength up. Depending on your age, you may begin to feel weaker as you get older. Many people swear by 5HTP as a way to stop those energy levels dipping quite so fast.

There are also things you can do to stop yourself physically getting weaker as you age. AlgaeCal plant calcium is a supplement that has been used by people who are suffering from osteoporosis and is rich in calcium and magnesium, as well as trace minerals. Many people underestimate the importance of trace minerals such as potassium. If you have enough of these in your diet it means you are giving yourself a healthy base level in which to operate.

Trick Number Two: Power Napping

Many of you  are probably thinking that you don’t have enough time for a proper power nap.   If you don’t, then you need to make the most of the drop nap. This is usually enough to give you a boost to get you through the next few hours and only takes a few minutes. The way to do it is to sit in a comfortable chair and shut your eyes. You need to make sure you’re holding something in one hand that when you drop it on the floor upon drifting off  will make enough of a noise to wake you up with a sense of alertness. You would be surprised how rejuvenating these micro naps are!

Trick Number Three: Shock Your Body!

This is something a lot of people do when they are hitting the wall. Doing something to shock your body into waking up is an excellent form of rejuvenation. The way to shock your body is very simple, just do something that will likely scare the living daylights out of you or give you that rush of energy! A good example is if you are up late and need to stay awake for a few more hours, fill a sink with cold water and add ice cubes (as many as possible), and dunk your head in! The shock of it will make sure that you are vibrant and alert to get through the last part of your day, and the cold has some surprising health benefits too, such as reducing stress and helping us get over colds!

We all need ways to keep our energy levels up, and these are a few simple ways that have excellent benefits!

Conquering Cat Conundrums With Plenty Of Petting

(Image Link)

If you own a cat, then you already know how much they love to be fussed, petted, and generally adored. Unlike other animals, cats seem almost obsessed with being in contact with their human friends. Of course, when they are young, it’s easy to find yourself giving them all of the attention they need. But, as time goes on, it’s easy to let this area slip. Petting your cat doesn’t just make them happy, though, it also gives you the chance to start making their life better. To show you how this post will be going through some of the areas which are most impacted by regular and loving fussing.

  • Their Emotions

cats are very emotional creatures. Without the right elements in their life. It can be very easy for a cat to become depressed or stressed out. One of these elements is social time and entertainment, which can both be derived from a good old fuss. When a cat wraps their tale around your legs, this is their equivalent of a hug. When they sniff at you or rub their face on you, these are also signs of affection. Just imagine how you would feel if you tried to hug someone and simply got ignored; it wouldn’t feel good.

  • Medical Issues

Along with keeping your cat happy, regular petting is a tool which can be used to keep your cat as healthy as possible. The texture of an animal’s skin and fur can tell you a lot about their current condition. For example, if your car has a lot of scabs and is very itchy, they may be suffering with fleas. To solve this issue, you’d need to read a cat flea treatment review or two, before finding the right option to get rid of the pests. This is just one example of an issue you can find by stroking your cat, and there are loads like it.

  • Molting/General Fur Health

Like a lot of other mammals, cats have to molt their fur during the summer months to make sure that they aren’t too hot. During this time, they might need some help to

remove the excess fur . Petting is the perfect way to do this. Along with this, when you pet your car, your hand acts in a very similar way to a brush. You will smooth their fur, help to remove knots, and keep it all in good condition. Fur health is very important to any cat.

  • How To Pet Your Cat

Once you have renewed inspiration to pet your cat, it’s a good idea to start looking into the best ways to do it. You probably already have an idea of where you cat likes to be stroked. But, with some research you can increase your pleasure-giving potential by a huge margin. Generally, cats will prefer to be stoked around their scent glands.  Making the head, neck, lower back, and cheeks perfect places to get started. Be careful, though as most cats won’t want a belly rub.

Hopefully, this post will give you a good idea of the benefits of giving your cat loads of attention. The more you touch and interact with an animal like this, the more they will want to spend time with you, making it well worth it if you want a good relationship with your pet. You brought the cat into your home, so it’s your job to make sure that they are happy.

Back to School Guide: All you Need to Know About Supplies

Google Images

I want to start off by saying I LOVE all things school supplies.  Ever since I was a little girl, I would dream about back to school shopping.  Pens, fresh crayons, Colored pencils, and cutesy pencil boxes. It was an exciting time to a be a kid.

So Now that I have kids, it’s even more exciting!  Going Back to school  forces me to get organized and ready for the year.  I set up a quiet and calm space for homework and reading, and I also need to organize all my IEP stuff for my oldest son (I’ll share my IEP binder in a later post).

It was sad to read of all the complaints coming from parents about school supplies.  One major complaint: Why do the teachers need us to buy so many supplies? Depending on the school district and demographics of you area, school supplies are necessary. However, my kids are in public schools and they supply everything in the classroom.  Everything I buy is basically for them to use at home.  My oldest son likes to use “special pencils” So I make sure to packs those.  But other than that, they have everything they need at school.

The great thing about school supplies is they go on sale so early and are usually very cost efficient. I like to have extra stuff at home because the kids go through them so fast.  Crayons break, markers dry up, and paper is often wasted.  This is my second year with my kids in elementary school and I have learned a lot and how to conserve supplies and what is necessary.

My kids are in second grade and kinder, so I understand that as they grow in school the supply list will increase.  These are some things I buy based on the needs of my kids.  Once or twice a year I’ll donate crayons, pencils, and paper to my child’s class because I understand that sometimes teachers have to pay for these things out of their own pocket and to me this should not be the case.  If I have the time and money to help I will do my part.

Pencils:

In the early stages of elementary school, learning to write is an important skill.  How your child learns to grip a pencil will help their writing become more legible.  My oldest son struggled with learning how to grip a pencil. I tried everything, pencil grippers, tape on the pencil, anything I could do to help I would do.

One day I went on handy dandy Amazon and found these awesome pencils and they helped him so much.  Now they are being passed down to my daughter who is now in kinder.  You can find them here, and they are about 5 dollars for a 12 pack.  They are seriously perfect for those little hands.

Crayola Twistable Colored Pencils:

I love these simply because they are easy to use and perfect for those small pictures they expect your five year old to color inside the lines with. They have a fine tip and you can twist the top if you need more pencil.  It’s basically a mechanical colored pencil.  But I highly recommend them, especially for your kindergartner.  They are perfect! I found them at Target and they are very inexpensive. I bought the 30 pack, but I believe they had smaller packs with basic colors as well.

Bright Star Kids Name Labels:

Bright Star Kids is a company that provides name labels for your child’s belongings.  They have these cool name labels to personalize any item you desire.  As most of you know, my oldest son has ADHD and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).  He is always losing or misplacing his things.  This will help staff or school administration identify his belongings and get them back to him.  They are also perfect for sleepovers and clothing.

You have the option to buy the labels in a kit or individually.  They have so many cool things on their site perfect for back to school or even gifts.  Definitely check them out If you are looking for something like this.  Theses products are dishwasher/laundry safe, and I received my labels in a timely manner.  You can find out more on their site https://www.bsklabels.com

Snap on Cubes:

Snap on cubes make math easy and fun.  These are perfect for all your math needs, this common core isn’t so common and can be confusing.  I explained to my second grader that they are just numbers and not to be afraid of them.  He likes to guess when doing his math, so these cubes make it easy for counting.  They snap on and off very easily they are great for teaching about whole numbers, place value, addition, and subtraction. I purchased 100 cubes on Amazon and they work like a charm.

Kwik Sticks Thin Paint Sticks:

With three kids so I am always trying to find ways to entertain them and keep them busy. My three year old is still at home with me so I found these awesome paint sticks, (which I have reviewed before on my site). They are great because they dry in 90 seconds or less, are mess free, and don’t require a paint brush.  Perfect for little hands.

The standard kwik sticks are great, however the thin sticks are great for painting in the lines. They were perfect for our  PTA posters. They also carry therapeutic products and toys for children with sensory issues.  I did purchase some of their pencil grips for my son and they help but sometimes they can become a distraction.  With therapeutic toys, it can be a trial and error, you can try them and decide if they work for your child.  You should check them out, especially if your  child can benefit from some of their other products. You can find out more at their website.

There it is! My List pretty simple right? I didn’t include all my organization items.  If you would like to hear more about my homework station and how I stay organized I can write about that on a later post.  These are basic supplies that you will need at home for homework success! Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to share.

Worse still, research suggests that over one in four aren’t in a position to withstand even a single financial emergency. So, when you find yourself on that slippery slope towards debt, it can feel like there’s no way out.

The road to financial recovery isn’t an easy one, and it will require a lot of time and effort. Nonetheless, it can lead you to a far happier destination. The first step on that journey is to stop stressing where possible. Clouded minds lead to clouded judgments, which will only slow your progress. Essentially, the human brain is the greatest tool at your disposal and keeping it in the right frame will make everything a little brighter.

Before achieving success in the bid for financial freedom, you must get your priorities in order. Frankly, debt repayments should always come first. After all, late payment charges and interest rates will cause ongoing problems. Even if it means taking a consolidation loan to minimize the overall repayment charges, reducing the level of wasted capital is key.

Those significant changes to your financial outlook are one thing. But it’s the small lifestyle improvements that truly make the difference. Cutting waste in daily life doesn’t only accelerate your recovery, but it also puts you on the right pathway going forward. Getting fit and healthy may feel like an expensive lifestyle change. In reality, preparing meals at home and working out away from the gym will save you money. Better still, your increased health could also influence your need for medications.

The key is to throw yourself into the challenge fully. Do this, and you can start to see positive impacts almost immediately. Using money in a more efficient manner is vital, but life will become a lot easier when you’re earning more. Getting a promotion at work would be great although it isn’t always possible. If you have some extra money, smart investments can be a great way to boost your capital. Alternatively, those who don’t want the risk can earn a little extra money from blogging, taking surveys, or freelancing on the side.

Money isn’t the most important thing in this world. Nonetheless, gaining that sense of financial freedom offers a sense of comfort that will boost your life greatly. Simply knowing that you’re back on the right track will provide the confidence needed to keep moving forward. Once this has been achieved, a brighter future is within touching distance.

Techniques To Make A Home You Just Moved Into Truly Your’s

There’s truly no place like home. No matter how exciting you are about buying and then moving into a new place, it’s going to be a house for a while, instead of a home. You’re going to have strange feelings that will tell you, it was a mistake to move out of your previous home, and perhaps it was too early or too large of a step to move out. On top of this, you’ve just moved into a new neighborhood, where the properties are different from you old one. The location has with it, a new scenery and backdrop which is also going to take some getting used to. The question that lingers in many people’s minds is, how can they immediately make their new house, feel like a home? There are certain techniques you should follow to start feeling at peace within your new surroundings.

Source – Republica

Air the place out

Immediately when you move in, you’ve got to get rid of the smell of the previous occupiers. They might have had a dog or cat, and perhaps even farmyard animals like rabbits and chickens. There is such a thing as family scent, which is a collective smell of the people who live in a small area, together. They might have also had newborn babies, and we all know what babies do a lot, and that is going to the bathroom. Open all the windows, and the front and back door. Tie the curtain back and allow the full breeze of air to rush through your house. Put rest stops in front of the doors, so they don’t slam shut and allow the air to take away the distinct smell of the previous owners.

Clean the place out

You never know what kind of people were living in the home you have just purchased. You don’t know what their hygiene level was, and how well they treated the home with regards to regular cleaning. The main things you need to clean, are those that hold the most amount of dirt and germs. The furniture, carpets and curtains, all need to be thoroughly vacuumed. If both parents are working full time, you could hire an expert house cleaning service. Such a business offers great and extensive scouring of the home with cleansing products and techniques that really get out deep levels of dirt, grime, germs, and stains. Make sure you go all throughout the home, so clean out the garage, both gardens, as well as the attic and basement.

Mentally settling in

You may find it necessary to plug in your appliances as soon as you move in, so you have some way of cooking meals and performing basic homemaking tasks like ironing. However, these actions can feel like a chore, and the feeling of you being in somebody else’s home is still lingering. To mentally, absorb your environment and settle in, put all of your clothes in the wardrobe. Hang them on the rails, fold your socks and underwear inside the drawers and place the cabinets, nightstands, and wardrobes in your bedrooms. Get the beds constructed and put back together in the bedrooms, and make them ready to be slept in.

When moving into a new property, it takes time to fit in and melt into your new home. The things you do on the first day or in the first week, determine how fast you’ll be able to settle in and truly call the house a home.

You may not have to travel far to find something interesting to do with your kids. There are sure to be attractions local to you, and many of them will be free. From parks to museums, head online and find out what is on offer.

Get an annual membership

Some places still insist on charging us money every time we head through their gates. Still, there are ways to save money, and that is to buy an annual membership. This will be cheaper than paying for a ticket every time you choose to visit, and you have the freedom to visit whenever you like throughout the year.

Keep hold of loyalty cards

To retain your custom, many places will hand out loyalty cards. From eating venues to tourist attractions, make sure you keep your loyalty cards in one place. You may have to visit them ten times before you get your next visit free, but you will save money eventually.

Use your local library

The local library often has summer activities for kids of all ages, and they will be educational to boot. Of course, you could simply take your kids to the library and get them back into reading again.

Search online for holiday discounts

Don’t pay full price for a holiday when you can find fantastic deals online. Sites such as DontPayFull.com have many coupons and money off-deals for holiday makers, so whether you are looking for a last-minute deal or are planning for next year.

Churches, community groups, and leisure centres often have a range of activities for the kids over the summer. Book your kids in early, and give yourself some much-needed rest as others look after your young ones.

Save money at the cinema

A visit to the cinema can cost you a fortune, but you can save money. For starters, keep hold of your 3D glasses so you can reuse them. Then buy drinks, sweets, etc. at your local supermarket. Your cinema should also have family discounts and have special days when everything is half-price.

Go for a picnic

Kids love picnics, so a day out somewhere scenic will be a treat. Parents.com has some great picnic ideas for kids, which are both healthy and affordable.

Buddy up with other moms

Cut down on your stress and expenses by buddying up with other moms. Share the costs of activities, and enjoy some adult company while your kids play with their friends.

Doggy Domicile: Preparing Your Home For Paws And Claws

It’s well-known that dogs can be incredibly destructive creatures. At some point in your dog ownership career, it’s likely that you’ll have to deal with at least one incident caused by your furry friend. Of course, this is a small price to pay for the companion you receive in return for this hardship. But, the size of the price doesn’t mean you have to keep paying for it. To help you out with this, this post will be going through some ways to protect your home from your canine. By doing this work, you will make it much easier to live in harmony with your dog. And, you may even make the house safer for them.

(Image Link)

  • Setting Boundaries

Dogs are very much creatures of habit, and this can be used to your advantage. A lot of pet owners don’t like the idea of their dog being able to access some areas of their home. A dog in your bedroom could make a big mess, so most owners will restrict access to areas like this. To do this, you should start enforcing these rules as soon as your pet arrives at your home. Using baby gates, you can create a physical barrier which they won’t be able to get past. After a few months of having this restriction in place, you should be able to remove it and continue to maintain order.

  • Keeping On To Of Jobs

Of course, keeping your dog out of certain rooms in the house won’t limit their destructive capabilities. In fact, you’ll need to do a lot more to secure your home. A lot of the messes dogs cause is actually their owner’s fault. By failing to keep the house tidy or clean, you could present loads more opportunities for the dog to cause chaos. Along with this, if you don’t keep on top of fleas and other parasites, your home could quickly become infested with them. You should get your hands on regular dog fleas treatment, to keep this part of their life in control. You could also consider taking your dog to the vets on a regular basis. This will help to make sure they don’t have any health issues which could cause a big mess.

  • Buying The Right Items

Along with doing the right work to keep your home in the clear, it can also be very helpful to choose the right items to go around your home. For example, if your dog tends to tear rolls of paper towels, it could be worth finding a protective covering for them when they’re not in use. The type of furniture you buy will also have a big impact on its lifespan with a dog. Leather is much better than fabrics if you want to keep your sofas and chairs going for as long as possible, and metals are much better than woods and plastics.

Hopefully, this post will inspire you to start finding new ways to protect your home from your canine friend. A lot of people live with big issues that could easily be solved with a little bit of work. So, it’s worth doing plenty of research when you identify a problem area with your dog. This way, you’ll always be one step ahead of their mischief.

Carefully Finding A Care Home For Aging Parents

Once your parents or other elderly parents get to a certain age, you will need to start thinking about looking for a care home or nursing home for them. This time might come earlier if they suffer from a certain health condition and you and your family are struggling to give them the care they need.

There are lots of different nursing homes out there, some of which cater for different needs and requirements. Not sure which one will be best for your relatives? Here are some helpful tips to let you carefully decide.

https://www.pexels.com/photo/couple-elderly-man-old-34761/

What Type Of Care Do Your Relatives Need?

Firstly, you need to establish which kind of care your elderly relatives will require. You will usually have the following to choose from:

    • Dementia and Alzheimer’s care. If your relative suffers from either of these illnesses, they will need to go into a home that can cater to their very specific needs. If this is the case, you will need to look for a home that employs nurses and carers who are trained in looking after and dealing with dementia and Alzheimer’s sufferers.

  • Residential Care. Patients living in residential care have their independence but have people on-hand to help with their cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene.
  • Respite Care. This is short-term care for when a carer needs a break from their responsibility.
  • Palliative Care. If your relative is coming to the end of their life, then palliative care will be best for them. It ensures that their final days are comfortable and pain-free.

Check The Standard

To ensure your relative gets the best quality care, you will need to check that a potential care home’s standard of care is up to scratch. There are a couple of ways you can do this. Firstly, check any reviews you can find online. If you only find negative reviews, it’s best to start looking into a different nursing home! It is also important to research whether a personal injury lawyer has ever had to deal with a negligence case against a particular home. If so, it’s a good idea not to use that one unless you are 100% sure that their quality standards have vastly improved. If you get in touch with your local council or health authority, they might be able to show you reports on some homes. You could use these for your research.

Visit Each Home

Once you have checked each home’s standard and have shortlisted a few different ones, you should make an appointment to visit them. This is a chance for you and your relative to take a look around and speak to staff to figure out which home they will be most comfortable in. You will also get the chance to speak to current residents to see what their experience of the home has been like. Most nursing and care homes will be happy to book a viewing if you give them a call.

Hopefully, this blog post has given you lots of tips to ensure you make the best choice for your relative!

Preparing Your Family for a Canine Companion

Adopting a dog is a wonderful feeling. For some people, the feeling you get when you introduce your furry little friend into the home is equivalent to that of bringing your newborn into your home for the first time. However, it’s a lot less maintenance and less costly than raising a child, which is why dog ownership is so popular nowadays. It’s a fantastic way to introduce a new member of the family, and children are usually great with pets.

Sadly, you can’t just go to a pet store and then instantly bring home a dog—it doesn’t work like that. You need to ensure that your family are well-prepared and stocked so that your dog has the best chance of fitting in without any issues. So to help you out, here’s a list of things that you should get in order before even heading to the pet store.

Research dogs and breeds

With so many dogs around, you need to ensure that you get one that has a personality that will fit in your family. For instance, Akita dogs are courageous and extremely loyal, while Pugs tend to be more suitable for apartments due to their smaller size and ease of care. Pugs are also friendly towards strangers and are affectionate towards family members, making them perfect for first-time dog owners. Another popular breed (thanks to how often you see them on the internet) is the Shiba Inu. These are bold dogs with fiery personalities. They’re not great around strangers, but they’re fine being home alone which is perfect for owners that regularly have to leave the house.

Find a local veterinarian

You’re going to need to take your canine friend to the vet every now and then for shots, check-ups and for any medical conditions they might develop or have. Because of this, you should find yourself a veterinarian as soon as possible. Connect with them, speak to them about their rates to see if it’s affordable for you and make sure you converse with them about dogs to learn a bit more. You might be able to pick up useful bits of information such as what breeds they specialise in (if any) and how to generally take care of your new dog.

General affordability

You need money to take care of a dog, which is why you also need to consider the financial viability of having a dog. No one wants to have to give up their dog because they simply can’t provide it with enough food and medical care to look after it, so ensure you’re able to afford everything from dog food to paying the medical bills and buying accessories and toys for them. If you want to treat your dog with something like duck jerky dog treats made in the USA, then you need to be prepared financially. If you want your dog to be trained professionally instead of winging it with articles you’ve read on the internet, then again, you need to be prepared financially.
